Max amps are the best batteries from what I can gather for the most part.
They are expensive but are very good.
As far as what there is to know about Lipo bats
Let me tell you that they are not anything like regular NiMh or Nicds.
Be very carefull when charging them and always keep an eye on them while charging.
I use a duratrax ICE charger I feel it does an excellent job.
Hyperion also makes a nice charger for Lipo too.
The Black Jack 26 boat seems to be pretty good but i could not gert enough info on it so I am probably going to go with the villian EX.
It sutis my needs a little better any ways.
www.youtube.com has a few vids of modified villians running as well as the black jack 26 brushless model.
Check them out
Either way they are both pretty cool boats!

Update:
My Blackjack 26 arrives in 5 days.......Lipo's are the way to go if you want to break 40+mph, but as brad Said be very carefull....always use a balancer.
i am going to start with 2 x 7 cell 4200 intellect packs (which i run in my Villain EX) and maybe upgrade to lipos after a while and when i fell like spending $500 on Batteries

It is pretty heavilly modified or was till i kept on burning out motors and striping drive gears.

Well I think the villian boat will do fine if it is used with mild motors and not try to go crazy with it.
We'll see this summer

probable the way to go, if you want it to last for ever, and it will if its kept prety mild.
Good luck

The villian just seems like the better choice for me.
The black Jack is faster!
Oh well the villian it is.

Awesome Pics of your SV27. I just bought one myself. New to the sport of RC boating. I've learned a lot from this site. as far as mod's go. Anyone have an idea of the least expensive way to record the speed of your boat on the water?
