I have an AT-6 Texan 1/7 scale and a Magnum .91 4 stroke engine. I plan to modify the exhaust pipes so I can have them exiting at the bottom of the fuselage/cowling. I purchased a thread die and tubing bender to form and thread the engine pipes.
Question - Do you have any idea of the approximate temperature the engine pipes and muffler are subject to? Right now I'm thinking of the material I should use. (Alum, copper or stainless) Your answer/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
John

Dear John,

Exhaust temperatures can reach 1,200 degrees F. and higher with a lean run. Although aluminum could probably be used okay, it would be best to use copper or steel.
