Newb here...given tamyica buggy..transmitter net-112 reciever ner-102. I can't get these to communicate. Batteries fine, antenna fine, hooked up to elec speed control. Can't get the servo on FUN1 to repond when I transmit. I'm at a total loss where to proceed. When i pulll out the connector from the servo on FUN1 and then put it back in I get the servo to move so i know that I'm getting power ect and that the servo works. Where do i go form here cheers

What is with all the lingo? ie, net-112, ner-102, FUN1.
If you mean you can't get the servo to work in CHANNEL 1, there could be any number of reasons. You could be using the wrong crystals for the band of the TX and RX. Make sure you are using 27mhz AM crystals or 75mhz AM crystals or FM or whatever. Check in the user manual, either online or in real paper to confirm what band your gear is. You cannot use 27mhz AM and FM crystals in the same radio equipment and expect them to work. It's one or the other. Most likely 27mhz AM in yours.
Another reason could be the RX is not a BEC receiver. Just the other day I was fiddling around with one of my old Acoms receivers which isn't BEC, and I did get the steering servo to twitch like yours, but it didn't work. You need a BEC receiver and a BEC ESC (which most are). BEC is Battery Eliminator Circuitry, so you don't need to carry a separate battery pack for the radio gear.
If your buggy is an old Tamiya, it may very well have originally come with a mechanical speed controller. If it's the same radio equipment that it came with originally, this BEC thing is probably your problem. A Mechanical Speed Controller requires a separate battery pack (4 AA) to power the servos, and there would also have been 2 servos in your car, one for steering, the other the mechanical speed control (MSC).

What brand is your radio gear? How old is it? A bit more info and we could be more helpful.

Thanks for the reply. Transmitter is a python 2 channel JR Propo model NET-112 TX crystal 75.870mhz batteries are fresh and power meter shows full when turned on. Receiver is a BEC reciever with the RX crystal 75.870mhz Model NER-102. I know it's being powered because of the servo activating when i pull the plug out of channel 1. How do i tell if the problem is with the tranmitter (radio) or the reciever? Is there a way to test the receiver?

I can't find any info on that particular radio equipment so I can't help you other than make sure the crystals you're using are AM if it's 75mhz AM band, or FM if it's 75mhz FM. You cannot interchange the crystals unfortunately.
The servo activating, what exactly do you mean by that? If you mean it sort of twitches, there is obviously some power getting to it but no signal to control it. I would double and triple check the crystals you're using checking if it's AM or FM. Perhaps the crystals are stuffed and that's all the problem. The only way, short of sending it in for repair, to test the receiver that I know of is to find a friend with the same band as you that you know works and try your receiver on that equipment with either your crystals or theirs. Maybe if you take it to a LHS they can look at the receiver and crystals and test it in some of their equipment.
It's more than likely not your transmitter, but it COULD be, just unlikely.

Ok, thanks don't think it's the crystals but it's the cheapest place to start. Do they become defective? Thanks

It's possible they become defective. I have never had one go bad on me, but other people say they have. If it's been dropped at any time, that could screw it up. Or also, they can get wet and that'll do it too.
My advice, go to your LHS and ask them if they have a set they can put in at the store to test it. Don't waste your money on new crystals because it may not be the problem.
