My Mamba Max ESC died while trying to update the firmware from 1.07 to 1.09. I've been trying to contact them for the last week with no success. They don't pick up the phone, and they didn't return my phone or email messages.

First the ESC fails due to their software writing incompetence, then I'm unable to reach them, and most likely it'll take a month to get my ESC fixed.

If the ESC is burned out and needs to be sent it, send it in. They have a system thats quite easy-send it in with the flat fee for repair or receipt claiming warranty support, and they send you back a new one. I'm in the process right now.

As for contacting them, that seems kinda weird. I have been talking to the same person for 2 weeks and they always get back to me within 2 days. As silly as it sounds, check the email address you're sending it to. Make sure its the right one.

I've never had this problem, but they are members on these forums and there is a factory answers thread to ask in.

Well, it is the christmas and new years holiday. Most small office-type business take this week or 2 off, so I'm guessing they are off galavanting around. Maybe playing........ooops, testing, the new Monster Mamba Max so that when they get back in a week, they can finally sell it.

I'd send it in when you can reach them. It sounds like it's dead. This has happened before reading through the forums. The only fix is for them to reset it back.

Their lead repair time went from 4-5 weeks (which pissed me off when I knew I had to send my 6900 motor in) to 2 weeks as of a few days ago. They are starting to come back from the holidays, maybe hiring new people.

You need to "trick" the ESC to get V1.07 back in there (if the ESC isn't screwed up in the first place). This happend to me (except I went from 1.07 to 1.09 with no problems, then tried to flash 1.07 back on there; apparently you CAN'T go backwards without the shizz hitting the fan).

Anyways, from what I remember, I basically kept plugging/unplugging the ESC and every plug/unplug "cycle" I'd try to re-flash 1.07 back on there. After a while it worked, and then I updated to 1.09 just fine. Just keep messin' with it; it's not like you can make it any worse at the moment ya know?

My problem was a tad different though, so yours may be all screwed up from it just trying to go from 1.07 to 1.09 (and not vice versa).

The thing is, it's dead and the software doesn't recognize that the ESC is attached. The ESC gives no signal to the computer. When I turn the ESC on, the lights don't flash and it doesn't give off its distinctive sound beeps. It seems to me that the program erases 1.07 on the ESC, then programs it with 1.09. But when I tried it, it failed to program 1.09 and shut off, leaving the ESC without any software at all and essentially dead.

And again, couldn't reach CC today. Sigh....

hmm. if theres no firmware on the esc at all i would assume its gone as neither the Castle link or the pc will recognise it...also the esc has no idea how to run so its deffinately a case of sending it in to castle... although, as ET said, try fiddling arround wiht it, who knows, it may work.

Good luck,
Demon

I think in future it would be wise not to try to update the ESC or even Castle Link for that matter unless there is a HUGE improvement or great new feature implemented in the software. It seems to be people are having problems updating the firmware and it just ends up stuffing the ESC up.

I realized this and read threads about it AFTER I fried my ESC. I was one of the first buyers in August 2006 and had just upgraded the program from 1.00 to 3.01.
