Any of the currently available engines in the 25 to 50 cc range that are designed for model airplanes are tougher than they have to be when operated and maintained properly.

Even the most popular make of engine of any size will not last long in an installation where they don't get sufficient cooling, nor will they last long if they are not kept clean and free of grit.

Dirt and heat are any engines's worst enemy. A lean run can ruin any engine as can an incorrect fuel/oil mixture.

The majority of the engines designed for models are excellent engines.
Price differences usually are relative to features such as CD ignition. premade throttle linkage and other convenience issues.

Good luck with finding an engine that fits your needs and pocketbook.

thanks for the reply. This issue is deffinately not $$$. I am willing to look at the very best.

What brings this up is the fact that recently I was into (complete tear down) of a well know engine and found it to be absolutely horrendous in its engineering. The top end looked good but the low end looked as though a
3rd grader came up with the design. The reason I am asking is that I have a customer that is looking for a bullet proff engine. Aside from the obvious fuel, dirt, cooling and proper carburetor adjustments. What I am looking for is who in readers opinions builds the best engineered motors when it comes to durability. Please don't tell me any of the top makers either because I just got done with one of the bigger names. If this is all that this industry has to offer then maybe I need to start building engines to sell.

Please understand that I am not flaming any one and I am asking with the utmost respect. Thanks for any help.
