Can you tell me what size screws are used to hold the old K&B .61 muffler onto the engine?

The two custom engines I bought from you look like 6-32 (I think).

I've given an ancient Aeromaster (built '67) that has the old cowl on the front. Looks like it was setup for a K&B .61. Just happen to have an old never used one and to get the muffler away from the cowl, I'll need to extend it somehow. This will need longer screws than come with the muffler (maybe 1-1/2" to 2" long). Any help or ideas on extending the muffler?? I have no idea what size screws were originally used on the .61.

Thank You,

Bob

Dear Bob,

If your engine says K~B on the bypass it is a 1974 or later model that used 6-32 screws. Earlier models used 6-40s. The

K~B Sportster 45 uses an exhaust extension with 6-32 x 2 1/4 screws. If you need an extension I have a 61 muffler with a defective casting, but the manifold portion is okay. I can cut this off so that it can be used as an extension. Maximum length would be 3/4". The charge would be ~22.50 including the screws plus $i.50 shipping.

Yours,
