I noticed some battery packs require soldering a connector to the wire tip. How does one go about doing this without melting the battery wires or shorting the battery. Or does it just require practice?:huh:

I make my own battery packs to,use a little pencil soldering iron it doesn't have enough heat to melt the insulation if it does just tape the insulation,if you build your own packs you will have to use the bigger iron on the wires that solder to the batterys the heat doesn't harm the battery if you think the heat will harm the battery you can wrap a cloth with cold water around it then just cover the pack with a covering you can get cheap batterys by asking Google Have a great day Chuck

Practical small parts soldering.

Before soldering wires to terminals (or battery surfaces) prepare bare wire and terminal by tinning the leads (put a little solder on the bare leads and terminal). This uses the least amount of heat and only takes a short time. Now, When you solder the two parts together all you are doing is melting solder to solder. Followed by a wet sponge will keep your parts from over heating.
