Quite the list there. Should be a killer truck. Not that there's really anything wrong with 'em anyway but yours should be awesome!
Gotta take pictures of the conversion process ;)

Eric,
It is turning out to look like its going to be quite the hybrid racer/basher. Don't worry, this thread will be 56k in no time. lol.

I see you like putting wear on the body posts. Now where is the body?? LOL . Nice dude should be a awesome build. How is the pipe??

Eric #2 (lol ;))
That is from doing wheelies in my driveway the other day without the body on :p. The stock X 4.6 body is almost dead by now, lol. That exhaust is AMAZING, to be really honest it almost made the truck twice as fast. Dave at Buku Power is a great guy, and I'm really glad he sent me one of these to review.

haha, I was going to ask you about the pipe. Runs good eh? I kinda wish I still had my savage. The thing that always got me was the tank placement. I really don't like it. I know there are mods out there but I didn't want to put that much effort into it. I'm lazy. :)

The exhaust is great. Once you get it tuned right with your motor (and even if its not) it hauls some serious ass. Your motor also runs rich with the exhaust, which means not only is the truck getting MUCH faster, but its also preserving the engine.
Yeah, Im not too excited and have never been very excited with the way the gas tank was placed on the savage. Unlike other lazy members I actually buy kits like the FLM one to do it. HAHA im just poking at you just kidding ;)

Yes, thats what I meant, but the high end is also considerably increased. No, not double.

it's good to see that HPI is coming out with big bore shocks for the savage (it's about time) but am I the only one who notices that they look poorly made? I mean, 90 bucks for non threaded bodies with plastic caps? come on now. if I'm gonna spend that much money for 4 shocks, gimme something I dont have to use shock spacers on... Anyway, how much $$$ is that pipe you have?

sorry, meant spring spacers..for those of you who feel the need to correct every little mistake people make...I beat you to it:cool:

You mean preload clips? :D
I actually prefer that to the threaded bodies. I know threaded bodies are kind of easy but I like how my 1/8 buggies have always been with the clip-on preload spacers. My old adam drake xxx-nt had the threaded bodies with it but I just found it more difficult to measure them out if I didn't have a mic with me. With the clips, you can just kind of pop 'em on and count while you go.

see, I knew there would be someone...Anyway, the "preload" clips dont offer any adjustment to them though. you're kind of stuck with whatever size you have, unless you go out and buy different ones, if you even can. now that's not really an issue unless you plan to race and fine tune every detail of your truck but still, it's nice to have the ability to.

I am very jealous of you, seanmanibog! I've been going back and forth wanting to upgrade my Savage SS with FLM extended chassis plates and the servo mount because I'm just not intrigued to run mine the way it looks stock. I can't wait to see how yours turns out; you're bound to have a blast!

@ Rccardude and Savg Ownr,
As I was told on another forum, the shocks are comparable to Baja 5b shocks in bore and strength!
@Turbo
I'll give you alot of pictures so you can just cut them out on the side of your savage! Haha just kidding. I am VERY excited to get this build going. Matter of fact, I got a conformation code in my email not too long ago, so Saturday my stuff should be here!!! Earlier today I thought I would get the savage ready for the build, so I went out into the garage, got all my lights turned on, my radio on, my heater, and was having a good time just tearing down the savage. Then, I looked down, and to my sadness, there was nothing left to take apart! Haha. If anyone is interested in Stock X 4.6 TVP's, Motor plate, and a basically brand new RPM Skidplate package deal, let me know ;).

Ok guys, the truck is finished. I must say, the FLM stuff is all great quality. Its damn sexy too! I have been sick with the Flu for the past few days so I havent got the chance to run it yet, which is ok since im waiting for a few parts still anyways. (Like the bracket to mount the HPI Rush battery box to the front tower, and my exhaust mount). The truck is maybe a few pounds heavier, but its worth it.

Nice! I had the same TVP's on my Savage and I loved them. I also had LST shocks. I always wanted to do the mid tank mod, but never got around to it. How do you like the tank there?
seanmanibog
02-28-2008, 06:49 PM
Yeah, they are really nice, I love mine also. I really like the tank there, it looks great and makes the truck handle just that much better.

02-28-2008, 07:26 PM
What is necessary to mount the tank there? Is the steering servo in the stock location?
seanmanibog
02-28-2008, 09:03 PM
I took the fuel tank mounts off of my robitronic mantis. And yes, the steering servo is indeed in the stock location, I believe it is a little further back though.

Wow, that looks really good! Someone in the monster truck pictures thread posted an FLM extended Savage and it's beautiful, and a three speed is awesome, but I don't think I have the drive right now (or money) to beef up my savage. I'll be dumping mah dough into my Revo, TXT, and Stampede this summer. Maybe the larger 1/8 .21+ monsters just aren't my thing  :).
Regardless, awesome truck! I love how the central tank relocation allows you to position the throttle servo in a better place, and lets you see more of the awesome machine work on the chassis. Plus, the steering servo mount is infinitely better. Feel better and enjoy.

The larger 1/8th's aren't your thing? What are you scared?!? Lol, im just kidding. I know alot of people who just cant dig the big trucks, and its understandable.
I do personally love the throttle servo position, and I am about to buy those exact same mounts again for the steering servo, and mount it even lower. If you look just below the servo plate on the right side of the truck, you see three close together holes, just like the throttle servo ones. So, im going to buy some mounts, and slap the thing down there, and then buy a CEN RX Box, throw that in the middle, then I will have a lighter and even better handling truck!

Gotta love the Savages!
I have the original FLM tvps and the long lcg ones. I've thought about getting their shock towers too but it's nice to have the give when you accidently land a front flip upside down. lol

Nice, Ive ran mine a few times now and like it. What suspension arms do you have?
Quinton
03-10-2008, 09:14 AM
FLM of course. They're the standard length ones. I've launched my Savage high and landed hard on pavement many times and never had a proplem.
One time I was drag racing a friend a nailed a solid lightpole and my Sav went flying. I was pretty worried, but no damage at all. :)
seanmanibog
03-11-2008, 02:29 AM
Nice, I was wondering about those arms. How much weight do they add? The FLM already makes the savage overweight.
Quinton
03-11-2008, 08:24 AM
The arms don't weigh so much as the threaded bolts and nuts for camber/castor adjustments do.
I use to run their standard tvp's along with these same arms and I couldn't tell a difference. Still wheelied like crazy and such. Now with the long lcg tvp's wheelies are pretty much gone, but it handles so much better.
Running my lst wheels/tires added alot of weight!

Thanks, maybe I'll invest in those sometime. Was the yellow savage with the really good brakes yours? My brakes are like that, I will brake and they will work great, and sometimes the very next time I brake its like I have nothing. Any ideas on why thats happening?
Quinton
03-11-2008, 10:59 PM
Yes they're mine. I just had them set up to grab tight like that because the day before I was lauching it and braking to pull front flips.
I don't know why yours is sporadic...

Holy crap seanmanibog... If I ever get another savage, I'm going to buy that fuel tank relocation kit. I assume it's part of the chassis but that'd be worth however much money they want for it.

Eric, it is pretty damn sweet. Actually, it is an option with the chassis. You can run it just regular, with the stock RX box, and the tank mounted on the side. It is a little bit more work to do the mid-tank, but its worth it. I really like it after running them for awhile now, the truck handles better, doesn't wheelie nearly as much, and it looks killer too :D
