Hi I'am retired and live in central Pa. I build and fly rc model airplanes I'am interested in buying a truck I was looking at the Dura Trax Warhead with a .28 Super Tirger engine, 4in. ground clearance, electric starter and a few upgrads. I like the Super Tirger engine I used them in my airplanes. Does any one have any thing to say about this truck. Is there any problems with them? How do they hold up? Also do you use a fuel with less oil in the winter? Thank You Chuck

I haven't heard good things about the Warhead. Most say it is a pile that you just keep putting money in. Duratrax is a ok company but most of there stuff is cheap products from China. Were would you get this truck from? Online store? Hobby shop? I would suggest the HPI Savage X 4.6. A very powerful truck that is almost unbreakable. I own one and the only thing I pay for is the fuel. Jumped it so many times that my jump is actually starting to break!

Chuck, I would echo Carbon's post, especially since the Savage comes in a kit version that would allow you to build a good portion of the truck. Since you build and fly planes, this aspect might be appealing to you.

One of the guys in our club got a warhead evo not too long ago. We had temp problems with the motor and couldn't get it to tune at first. Once we finally sealed the engine and carb the truck runs very well and much cooler. Its running very strong also...... I think for the money the truck is a good deal. With coupons you can get the truck shipped for under $325......thats pretty good.
Indeed, stay away from the Warhead. the Savage is an excellent choice, particularly if you will be primarily bashing. The Revo is also good.

I have not had any luck with duratrax. Id say the Revo 3.3 if you want to race and bash. But if your looking just to bash Ive heard the Savage is a good bashing truck. Or a truggy if ya really wanna race I guess. Stay away from the Monter Gt from associated. I did not have any good luck with that truck.

Stay away from the Warhead: poor parts, parts support, bad engine, and tons of other things
If you like the way the war head looks then get yourself a Savage. But honestly you can't go wrong with anyone of thse vehicles:
Revo 3.3, LST2, or Savage 4.6
They all offer electric star and have similar capabilities. The LST2 is the biggest of the three if size is a factor. Honestly unless your going to race any one of these trucks will suit you.

Hi I'am retired ... airplanes I'am interested in ...
FYI, it is either I am or I'm but not I'am .
The apostrophe indicates missing letters, so I'am makes no sense.

LOL! You're worse than me! :D
Anyway, I'm not going to rant like normal about the Warhead because everyone else pretty much summed it up. It's a piece. Don't buy one. PLEASE don't buy one...
Savage is awesome, Monster GT is awesome, Revo is good, T-Maxx is still decent although most will argue not as nice as the others.
See what your local shop has for parts support and go from there...
You said you fly? How old are your SuperTigre engines? They were bought out by a low budget chinese company a few years back. They used to be higher end Italian engines that competed with Novas and others, but now are cheap as can be.

Hi guys thanks for the advice the Super Tiger engine is a .46 I never had a problem with it except what was my own fault I never ran the fuel all out an the bearing rusted I replaced them an I used after run oil after that an always ran it rich when you run an engine lean all you do is damage it my engine is 6yrs. old and runs like new the Super Tiger engine in the Warhead is what I like about it if an engine is not adjusted right it does not matter what kind of engine you have it won't run but what about the other parts in the Warhead how do they hold up? I'am the type of guy that likes a challage if something does not I work with ontil it works. I really like this site I'am 64ys. old an its play time CHUCK

hey chuck,
first I work at a hobby shop an have owned, run, tuned, and worked on all of the nitro monster trucks that have been talked about in this thread. I would reccomend the trucks to you in this order : LST 2, revo 3.3, T-Maxx3.3, T-Maxx 2.5, savage, MGT, warhead. If money is not a problem the LST 2 or revo 3.3 are durable, good handling, and fast trucks.:teacher:

P.S. they are also easy to work on.
