I’ve been an R/C Modeler for over 30 years, and enjoy Kit Bashing from time to time. I love to see the faces of the other Club members when I show up with a new one to fly.
This particular project came about from my interest in both 3-D aerobatics, and Ducted fan jets, so naturally, I combined the two into a plane I call, the “Turbo Katana”. I completed the necessary range tests, so there was no reason to put it off any longer. I was surprised to see that it took so long to break ground. It took almost 75 feet before it shot up into the air. The trims were close, so I had very little to worry about. I did need to crank in a little up elevator for level flight. I am a little disappointed that full throttle does not rip off the wings like I thought it might. I’m afraid the performance is only average and compares to a .40 sized glow engine. The ducted fans with the brushless 4400 Kv motors put out approx. 4.4 Lbs of thrust, total. The plane weighs approx. 5.5 Lbs all up weight, so as you can see, hovering is out of the question, but Tail Slides are good! If you’re interested, you can see it’s “test flight” on YouTube.

Later on, I’ll post a better quality Vid. of it doing some low level aerobatics. But this will have to wait till I have more time on it’s sticks.
