I have a stock 14.4 emaxx and a rustler with a gtb 5.5 and need new batterys, I am running gp 3300's right now. What I am looking for is a battery that will work for both my cars. Maxx Amps sells a 7 cell stick pack (4600 I think, I can't remember right now)that would work good for the emaxx but I am not sure the gtb will handle 7 cells without overheating. What nimh packs are you guys running? What do you recommend? Pre made stick or loose? What cells should I stay away from? I almost forgot, I am strictly a basher. Thanks for your help.

I have turned to the dark side. LiPo!!

I purchased a pair of 7.4 volt 2S 3000HV packs from Max Amps and I can't bring myself to run NiMh any more. I have run them in parallel (2S2P 7.4 volt 6000 mah) and get over double the run time. About 28 minutes at race pace in my XXX-T. And I have run them in series in my 1/8 conversion experiment for 14.8 volts 4S1P 3000 mah. They run cool and crank out the power better than any NiMh I have ever run.

If you must run NiMh, My EP4200 pack is holding up okay, but it is down on power after just 60-80 charge cycles. It still makes race distance without a problem, but it is soggy for the first minutes, then runs strong for 4 minutes, then get's slow again for 10 minutes before it dumps. It was a 4200, but now it is down to 3500 or so on my TC1030 charger. My LiPo's have about 25 cycles on each alread, and they still take 3150 mah, just like when new.

I'd highly recommend TrakPowers Lipo packs. Very consistent high flat discharge in a protective hard case.

I'm running a Trinity "li-pro" 4500mah pack, and so far it has held up. I put it away for storage on the last day of christmas vacation, so we'll see how it holds up to extended periods of being unused (I go home for spring break this saturday, so it'll get some use saturday night or at the latest, sunday).

It's a well priced pack for the performance I've experienced with it (better than my IB4200WC packs). But if you wish to run NiMH, I second the EPs, just because I've read such good things about them, and my personal experience with IBs wasn't exactly wonderful (the packs performed great for the first few months, but there was certainly a performance drop off). If you can hunt down some GP4300s...those are supposed to be quite good (I used the GP3300s, and I loved 'em! Durable, well performing cells).

Amainhobbies.com also has well priced lipos in 2s and 3s configurations (around 65 and 85 bucks respectively IIRC). I'm considering a 3s 4000mah pack from them possibly.

I can't say enough about my EP4200's from Slingshot batteries. The only downside I have seen is that after a year of use and letting them sit untouched for 2 months they are only charging up to about 3800 - 3900mah now but I still have absolutely no problems finishing 5 - 10 min races or practices running a GTB - 7.5 combo.

I ran them over spring break. It worked just fine after being stored since the Christmas break. I'm not done fully testing it yet though. It's next test is a 4 pole, 4800kv medusa 36x50mm motor. Max current is 117 amps, so we'll see how the Trinity stacks up to it over the summer.:D
