Hey all,
well my truggy project went well and im now thinking about Lipo's for the beast.
i've found the right Lipo, balancer, using my own charger and so far happy with that, but my BK9920 doesnt have a LVC (low voltage cutoff) and im wondering if anyone can reccomend a good one?
ive looked arround the sites i usually buy from and the only one i think IS an LVC is this : http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6320
Its a Ubec supposably FOR Lipo use - also it has a male receiver plug (for your esc?) which makes me think it is a LVC...but not sure.
Another option would be to wait for the MMM, sell the BK and a few spare feigao's i have lying arround and hope for the best... but would rather just find an LVC and get it over with.
take care all,

That BEC does not mention anything about LVC so I doubt it does it. That is a big deal, so I am pretty sure they would say in any ad if it did it.
Check this out

About as simple as a true cutoff gets. It does not do the BEC though.
Did you check the RCM store yet?

Thanks for the replies guys,
strangely enough i didnt check RCM - will do that.
i think you are right about the Ubec. shame, someone needs to come out with a Ubec / LVC. would be very usefull.
i may just hold out for the MMM...not sure.

Well, every LVC ive seen so far is for plane use. not sure why...and somehow, i dont like hte idea of throttle "Blips" when bashing in some area's...dunno, just seems dangerouse...
I sent an email to the people that make the Liposhield. apparently they are bringing a car LVC out, not sure, if anyone has any other suggestions, please lmk
the search continues!

Have you looked at Novak's LVC devices? They're not adjustable, so if you plan on running 2s one day, and then 4s on another, then you'd have to buy two separate units, but if you want to run 4s all the time for example, you can simply buy that unit.
I don't know of anyone else who makes an LVC specifically for cars though.

i think what i have decided to do for the moment is buy one or two of these:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6260
and slap em into the windows of my truggy, every few minutes just bring it in and when the voltage is getting low, take them off!
simple as that, ive also got an down-time funciton on my radio which i will set to go off when i find out when the voltage gets low. since im only bashing it should help!
Take care all,

I have never actually measured where my LiPo's are at a lap before it goes into low volt current limit, so I can't say how "safe" that will be for sure. But from how mine goes from pulling hard to cutoff in only 1/2 lap makes me think it could be very risky. I believe that the great pull I get right before the cutoff activates is a sign that even below the cutoff voltage it will still pull to even lower if there was no cutoff, so you could easilly dip from 3.0 volts per cell to 2.8 v/c and not notice the performance drop to check the monitor, and damage could already be happening. Before I owned and drove my LiPo's, I thought it would be no big deal to "notice" a performance dip and shut down before hurting them, but I was way wrong. They don't lose any noticeable performance until the cutoff is hit. I pull a wheelie down the front straight, and a half lap later the LVC is shutting it down. I thought about having a voltage detector and a light in the car, I could see from the drivers stand, but in sunny SoCal I now feel it is just to risky for my LiPo's. The only semi safe way to do it with a visible light setup would be to have it activate a bit early, say 3.3 volts or so to give you a lap or two of warning incase you mis it on a lap. Just my paranoid 2 cents.
