I just bought it 2 weeks ago. I wanted to know is the ss esc semi water proof and can I up grade from the 10.5 turn to a faster one ? What's some speed tricks to get more speed out of it. I have a 3300 nimh . What's a good lipo combo.
Thanks. Mike

It's not water resistant or waterproof. It also has a motor limit of 8.5 turns brushless, or 12 turns brushed. You can always run a 7 cell NiMH pack, or a 2s lipo will certainly wake up the 10.5 or 8.5. Something like a 4000mah 20C pack should get the job done nicely with an 8.5 turn, and should be more than enough for a 10.5 turn.
Another thing you can do is buy the sintered rotor (either 12.1mm or 13mm; the larger one will give more torque which means more gearing and also in general, a cooler running motor). Installing a larger capacity capacitor will also allow the ESC to run cooler, and a cooler ESC is a more efficient one.
I used to have the original SS5800 setup, and on 7 garbagey cells, it was a nasty little guy in a nice and light T3. I still have the motor, but traded the ESC in for an SS+ ESC in XBR's clothing (IE- SS+ programming/firmware, but XBR "guts"). It's a blast in my hopped up TT-01. I've yet to run it with lipo though in the TT-01 (in the Rustler I have though, and it's a nice little motor at that!). I also have the sintered rotor in my SS5800 motor.

I just bought one last week. I like it alot. What are you looking to use it for? I have set mine up for drift with a 7 cell 4200 pack and it works very well and I get about 25 min of run time that way.

What class restrictions are there? I know a guy who bought this car, took it out of the box and won a fairly competive race with it. They are set-up very well straight out of the box. Depending on what you are up against I would start with just trying diffrent gearing and get the suspension working like you want.

loosen up the drivetrain. loosen the belt as MUCH as you can without getting beltskip. that will free the drivetrain up TONS

I heard from some of the other guys at the track that they are going to race in a class of their own . I am not sure if they finalized it yet. I just want to be competive.
