I just bought a turnigy to try it out in in
my staduim truck. I will be using a 4000 mah
3s lipo ill be customizing the 5mm shaft to
fit the standard size pinion i hope. What
i wanna know how high can i gear it, will it
kill my lipo because of the 3-5s rating, how much
tourqe and speed will i be expecting, and last
is this motor worth using on 1/10th scale
vehicles?

The spec listings I have found on the web for the Turnigy 2600 don't give all of the information to fully figure out the motors ability. They list it as 4 turns, which seems very low for only a 2600 KV unless it is 4 pole or very long. And it only 67 mm long, so it is not length. They recomend a 60 amp ESC, but don't give any constant or peak current ratings. Then they list 475 watts, but not at how many cells? Since it is rated from 3S to 5S I have to assume that the max power rating is the constant ouput at the highest voltage, 5S. 475 / 18 volts is just 26 amps. 26 amp at .010 (10 milli ohms) is only 7 watts of heat. That seems very low. Mosy 36x60 mm motors can get rid of more like 40 - 50 watts of heat. 63 amps is closer to 40 watts and also agrees with the 60 amp ESC recomendation. So it just does not add up with the rest of the specs. 475 watts would be 60 amps on just 2S LiPo, and that would be a very good all around 1/10 scale motor. And at 3S that same 60 amps becomes over 650 watts. I just don't know which specs to believe. Can it take 60 amps? If so, for how long? Is the 475 watt rating at 2S? 3S, 4S, 5S?? It makes a big difference. And the resistance = 10, I had to assume was in milli ohms, is that right?

lol, what do you expect with chinese motors eh?

well to be fair i think you should be able to gear it however high you want...start at about a 25 tooth pinion and see what happens!

take care,
