Did we want to run on the drag surface again? I thought the traction was inconsistent so we were thinking of running on just asphalt or concrete surface.

A Drag strip has instant safety....

And if the VHT get "thinned - down" properly, it good for all..............

That's a great idea! It was suggested before by someone and I thought it was a great idea then too!

Great location! I wished I would thought of that first:p

If anything, it should be easier for many people to attend than a west or east coast exclusive event.

My car may or may not be ready for this year. I ended up having move to texas for a while. Left all my stuff behind but just enough to run a oval car.

When I get back to missouri in late may, I'll start back on it.

A drag strip surface is only good for rubber slick tyres. If your using foams they need some form of surface texture to key onto and the drag surface is usually reall smooth. If you use foams it will be like running on ice.

I suggest running on an airstrip or what we do is not toi use the main strip but the slowdown section as it has more grip.

Or run on the main drag so you get slow speeds and we get better times in the UK event!! LOL

Cheers

If Vegas works out, you may want to avoid May - September...

The hotter the better for me as I won't need to warm my lipos to get them at a happy temp.

CheersThis is what I have found in my testing. Rubber tires work ok on the drag surface but it has to be covered with VHT thoroughly. If you drive on a drag strip with no VHT and rubber tires you don't get any traction. Its much worse with foams. I've had much better and consistent traction on the shutdown area of the drag strip which is concrete. Rubber tires have been working better than foams.

Nice place for the event! We might get some local coverage on the TV as well!. Like I said try to stay clear of the strip, looking at the map there is a full 1/2 mile at the end of the strip and a 3/4 mile straight to the right of it.

What about availability? has anybody been in contact with the venue management?

Cheers

This is the track we are using in the UK. 3/4 mile with the drag surface but 1/2 mile at the end is the prefered surface.

"This is the track we are using in the UK. "

Bragger! =-)

The strip next to the strip is probably the return road which I'm sure wasn't laid quite as level as the strip.

If the timer was set at the finish line of a drag strip the rubber tired cars could use the strip and the foam cars could use the shut down area.

...and Bonneville is hotter 'n hell but people have flocked there for 60 years!

The rubber tyres wont suffer on the course surface so both should use it.

Hey even with a 15ft tower at the last meeting it was impossible to see what way the cars were pointing unless they were moving. I'm going to use a spotter next time with a good pair of binoculars!

Cheers

The shutdown area at vegas isn't level. I was watching the drag races from there today and the shutdown has an incline, so much so that the Safety Safari has to put chocks behind the tires of any car that stops there to keep them from rolling backwards.
