I just purchased a 9L feiago motor
Now my question is how will it perform
in a a staduim truck with 2s lipo gearing
84/26 good bad fast or slow? Also how
will it perform on 3s and will i defenatly
need a wheely bar also is this to much
motor for the truck?

well you bought a little too much motor for a stadium truck. what you got was essentially a monster motor.
it has low rpm per volt and in order to get it to perform youll need at least 12 cells. or 4 s lipo
it has a 5 mm shaft and is longer than a 550 motor. you may wanna email whoever you purchased that from and look for a feiago s series motor.

On 3s, with some tall gearing, it'll scoot along. That motor is going to be able to be geared up big time in a 2wd stadium truck. On 2s lipo, meh, but 3s, it'll probably be pretty fun.

I have a feiago s series motor with
my 3s lipo pack its too much for
that motor. (out of spec) I posted a thread about it
a while ago someone told me that the s series wouldnt
take the amperage or the rpms only for speed runs
so i tried it sure enough it spun the shaft almost
two inches. I got temps of 195 on the motor. Also
the feiago charts says the s series can only handle 6 or 7
cells cant remember right off hand. On the other hand
the L motor chart says these motors can handle 6 to 12 cells.
Not saying you could be wrong but are you thinking about
the Xl motors. Also the shaft on this motor is standard not
5mm. I got the motor and information from offshoreelectrics.
Also i had the s series motor geared as low as i could get
and it still almost slung the motor apart.

The cell rating generally depends on motor winds and Kv. The higher the kv, the lower the motor's winds are.
I think I remember you had a 540 6s, which is a 5900kv motor roughly, and has a full "540" size rotor. Feigao rates the rotors to about 55k RPM I think (due to the rotor's mass and diameter).
If you had a 540 12s, that would have no problems on 3s. The can size does affect power output, but kv and rotor size more or less dictate voltage input for max RPMs.
The 540L motors are much longer, dissipate heat better, and have a lower kv for a given wind, so they can handle more voltage by nature.

I have the 6s too. So the 2s will be usless
on the 9L but the 3s with high gearing will
be alright is that what your saying

I have the the 9L that I use as a spare motor for my 1/8 scale buggies which are 7-8lb and let me tell you this: I don't know what the limits of this motor are powerwise but it has extremely poor efficiency. I've ran it on 3s and 4s, but no matter what gearing I use it overheats well before the pack is about to dump. It seems that it runs hotter on 3s, because even with the smallest pinion gears i can find when running 3s, it still heats up the same amount as if a larger pinion were used. If you are only doing speed runs in a stadium truck, you would need a ~30 tooth pinion gear for 50 mph and a ~35 tooth pinion gear for 60 mph, which can be done, but it is very unpractical since you would actually be much better off just by using the Castle 4600 or 5700 motors on 3s. They would also save you a good 1/2 lb of weight.

Pretty much, but I agree with SpeedyBL. The Feigao motors in general just suck when it comes to efficiency (I have a 540 8s, and the damn thing is a heat pump).
You get what you pay for essentially.

I was going to order the mm 4600 but i got
the 9l instead because i was wanting a lower
turn motor geared high for speed without the
worry of heat problems but i guess not. Another
reason why i ordered this motor is i ordered a
turnigy 2600 motor from hobbycity which alot
of people are sayin they suck too but it took
them aholes almost three weeks to ship one
stinkin motor. The result i will never order
anything else from them.

My 6s ran warm not hot even with tall gearing with my 2s but
with 3s a diffrent ballgame.

I was running my 540 8s on 2s lipo geared 23/87 in a Rustler; it was powerful and had torque, but it got to around 180 after a few minutes. If I stepped the gearing down to 20/87, it would hover around 150-160, but didn't run as fast as I was shooting for.

So would the 9L motor be good onroad or offroad?
Right now im just lookin for cheap pratice motors
for race onroad and offroad setups then im moving
on to better motor speaking of,what are some better
bl racing motors and who sells them at a fair price?

Funny for me, each feigao motor ive had has been worse than the previous one because it either fell apart or overheated. The first motor was 540 6s, which didnt overheat too badly - only when crappy batteries were used. Next was my 380 9t which ran most efficiently and had the highest top speed because it could run 3s lipo, but the plate that keeps the rotor in balance fell off the magnet. Then i bought a 380 12s partially to swap rotors, but before i did, the motor had odd overheating problems. It would work ok on 3s lipo, but i had to use a 18-21 tooth pinion to keep the temps in check. On 6 or 7 cells nimh, there was no gearing that would prevent the motor from overheating. Once i got into 1/8 scale, i bought a 8xl to compare to my novak hv4.5 motor and it didnt overheat as badly has my 380 12s or 540 9l, but it still got pretty hot when i wanted decent power and the magnet came loose from the shaft after 5 runs or so. Luckly Mike at rc-monster gave me a discount on another feigao motor after i had sent in the 8xl can, so i chose a 9l thinking that it would be lighter weight, would keep the mm cooler and have a one piece magnet that would not cause the same issue that the 8xl had. I could not get a full run in without it overheating and tbh, i think the magnet may have demagged because im pretty sure it ran better when it was new. When i get another 4s pack (my maxamp pack puffed) i will see, but the general trend is that feigao motors overheat more and more, each time you use one.

Wow you really have had buzzard luck
with feiago motors i had my feiago 6s
motor for about a year now.Its been
ok to me considering almost everytime
i drove my truck either it broke or the
batt failed or the wheels exploded (rear)
So I bullet proofed everything I got bored
with the motor the 5s and wanted something
that can handle a lil more power. So i bought
the 9L feiago just to have my fellow r/c buddys
tell me i bought a heater that bites there go
70 bucks down the drain. I could of added 70
more bucks and got something better. Shoulda
asked you guys about the motor before i bought
the stupid thing but on the up side ive never had
a problem with them theres also been alot of people
that had good bad and ugly things about these motors
so all i can do is try and see what happens and get
back at you guys with the conclusions. thanks guys
your the greatest. Dont stop the tread keep it comming
i think the consumers could use this vital information
before they go out and make a bad purchase

Well The 9L arrived yesterday i got it
going today. I have it geared 26/81.
I like it a lil warm but not hot as the
540s on 3s after about half a pack.
plenty of tourqe and speed. I dont
know if you guys know about this
but the color of the can and the label
is diffrent. I think feiago has changed
there line of motors. It could be just
me though.

They're black now as opposed to purple; should be the same motor otherwise.

No mine is still purple but a lil lighter
shade of purple also on the can it has
feiago professional for rc use

Hmmm. Weird. Anything odd looking features on the motor at all, or does it still look like a good ol' feigao?

No not really except the label and
the lighter purple can as i stated
above.

Your right. I need to know something about the
max amps on this motor. The spec chart on the
9L motor says the max amp output is 68 now
im using a 3s lipo 11.1v geared 81/30 plenty
of wheel poppin tourqe and fast speed. Is the
battery and the motor alright ? Am i puttin to much
stress on the motor or battery or is everything ok.

As long as the motor doesn't exceed ~170-180F and the batteries say under 140 you should be fine.

Is their a coiling coil for the 9L? I want to convert a boat.
