Tamiya had a lot of cool vehicles on display. This Mitsubishi Pajero is super cool.

Holy crap! That might be the only truggy that will hit the streets for more $$ than a Kyosho. LOL
Hmm... Wonder when they'll have a buggy. :D

The metaltop Pajero has always been one of those I wanted. Now that they've gone and reissued it, I need to find some more money LOL.

I want more pictures period. This is a major show, we want some coverage. Been checking every once in a while and more often than not, no serious product updates.

Sorry Hikari, but we're here working the show, we don't have the luxury of parking behind a laptop all day. Rest assured, you'll see a lot more stuff posted after the show wraps.

Peter, I can appreciate that. I just get antsy around hobby show times (especially Nuremburg) Looking forward to the post show recap. I figured there would be some updates early this week. I'm sure after working the floor all day, the last thing you want to do is park it and load photos. And I didn't have the luxury of sitting behind a laptop all day. I was at work all weekend, but got a few minutes here and there to check in. Will definitely check back tomorrow for updates.

That Tamiya truggy is going to be sweet. When Tamiya gets really serious about a competition spec RC, they always pull it off right. :)

I saw the Tamiya truggy there, and I want one now! Very sparse on the details, and body off was not possible since it was in a glass case. Peeking through the body revealed a straight layout on the drivetrain, contrary to the norm.

In all honestly your coverage of the show has been lackluster at best. Compared to past years you really dropped the ball. I know you want sell magazines and all, but this is a huge industry show and we have had six posts total (three were non-RC related). You want to make some buzz, and expand the hobby.... get some coverage!

Really? Lackluster? We had live stream coverage of ... everything. We have about four or five fresh RCNet videos live from the show and dozens of pics from the show. We just didn't break out a new thread for each product.

Okay, no offence, but the videos I've watched haven't showcased new products, just people, booths, and jumps. Maybe I missed the ones with actual product coverage. In my opinion, you should have hired a college student for $40 a day and had him/her upload pics of new and exciting stuff every hour. I think that would keep your faithful readers happy.

Maybe I'm wrong... Maybe the only interesting things there were the E-Revo, Tamiya Truggy, 1:1 Vehicles, a few attractive women, and a soldering iron. Kinda sad if that's the case though.

I'm still holding out hope for a slew of new photos to pop up once you folks are rested up, but it's the information age... and I'm impatient.

It looks as though the RCX show wasn't as good this year; not much new product. In fact all I have seen so far is yet more off-road stuff. Where are the on-road cars and parts? Not everyone likes to play in the dirt!:(
It looks as though Tamiya is going the way of the others with mostly off-road stuff. Very dissapointing as they always had the best and most scale on-road cars, F1, LeMans, Touring, etc. It looks like the play-in-the-dirt
set have won

I personally thought this was the best year yet. I'll get some on-road products up for you tomorrow.

theres is alot to take in on something of that scale. A LOT of video editing, countless pics to sort thru, and still gotta keep shop going. Matt and the guys will have something for us, you can count on that.

At one point, I thought the same thing, " okay, a Revo, a couple kits, and some girls...big whoop". But, I recall going to the Detroit Auto Show too, and thinking " wow, the coverage they are showing sucks! There was so much more than that!"...then , I realized, they have to try and hit the BIG movers and shakers to the masses, then they can focus on the niche groups.

Either way, I am sure we will see alot more things. Imagine trying to stuff all that into a single story in a mag??? what and who do you pick to focus on???

Yeah, I heard it was the best yet. To have this many pics up just a few days after the show is impressive! keep em coming Matt.

I am glad the Pajero is coming back, but would think they would sell more if they would have brought back the Jeep Wrangler instead.

4wdmt
05-06-2008, 10:16 AM
Just imagine the sale if Tamiya will re re the Wrangler. Any Tamiya Pajero kit priced below the 150 mark at ebay are all sold out in just hours of being listed. What more with the Jeep body version.

Bring back all CC / XC hard bodied chassis.

I just got my re-release pajero! Great kit identical to previous only revisions being esc included, and revised steering linkage and use of optional leds instead of bulbs!

I would imagine they will re-relaese them all in time i would like to have Isuzu Mu also loved the lowered chassis and on raod radials :D

Thanks

Lee.

lee. What kind of revision did tamiya made with the steering?

Hi, its only a longer threaded rod from servo, was 32 or 38mm now up to 50mm long and the servo axle is towards rear of vehicle not front. This appears to make the linkages above chassis closer to 90 degress, so i think be better operation and less bump steer:D:D

Hope this helps!

Thanks

Lee:)

guys i've been racing for 4 yrs now, and have been in the hobby for 9 yrs straight. And am a little embarrassed to say that i'm not familiar with Tamiya products. Now, regarding this truggy; i've read some posts saying that this should compare price wise to Kyosho. Are the two companies on the same level? Has Tamiya historically put together really good products? When they release something as big as this; generally does come with all the bells and whistles?

Thank you

Tamiya race cars are top notch and it reflects this in the price tag

When you say reflects in the price tag, this may actually be a $1000 truggy.

knowing tamiya yes it will be
If I wasnt so partial to kyosho I might consider it knowing how good tamiya race cars are.

So between Kyosho and Tamiya; what can i expect more of from Tamiya? I have the ST-R with some RR upgrades, but what would set the Tamiya apart ? I know with the CRT you can definitely see a differece, as well as the hellfire. Then you have the Losi 8T and Mugen which both IMO see equal to one another. Now the Kyosho aside from having the bigger price tag just has it's racing pedigree. THe racing pedigree means more to me than what is popular.
