Latest from www.duratrax.com
We just found out about this new rock crawler from DuraTrax, so there is not that much info yet. What we can tell you is that it will be available as a RTR and as an ARR (Almost Ready to Run). The RTR will be around $240 and the ARR will be $140. It has two motors (one for each axle) and comes with a dovetailed body.
As more information becomes available, we will pass it on to you.

1st mini crawler?

I wonder how mini this crawler really is. Little is known so far, but the tires look 2.2'ish. I also bet the body meets current crawling rules.

And the steering servo looks standard size so that would jive with a 2.2 tires.

1st mini crawler?
TLT-1...?
Looks alright, but I'm looking forward to body off shots.

DTX needs to stop teasing us all and take the lid off that thing so we can see YET ANOTHER PLACE were going to try to sink our tax relief cash ...

While a huge number of crawlers use TLT-1 parts, the TLT-1 as it comes out of the box, is not a rock crawler. So, the Cliff Climber gets credit for being the first mini crawler ... or does it? Free subscription to the first person posts the first mini crawler. I'll post hints as needed.

I've been building 1/87 scale TTTT crawler trucks for years.....
but I would say the Nylint trucks would be the first mini/micro crawler... but someone already beat me to it

For Hobby-Grade I would have to say the PTI Goliath was the first Mini Crawler. (Mini-TBasher55 beat me 2 it. :( )

The PTI Goliath Rock Crawler (http://www.ptiracing.net/goliath_crawler.php4) was the first 1/18th specific Rock Crawler of hobby grade. I'm sorry, the Nylinet was a toy, the Tamiya and Venom/A-tech Mini Giant were also not originally built as a rock crawlers. This platform will be the first 1/14th. Its kinda hard to say Mini with its size compared to others. How about Mid-size? ;)

So, it is another rebadged unit from anderson to dtx.

All I know is that I want the one with the quad body that is on the table in the body off shot. That would be way cooler than the Savage and having to deal with all the issues there.

Anyone else spy the "nitro vendetta" in the pics on the Anderson link posted above?

Are any of the answers listed above correct (for the free subscription question about the first mini crawler)?
Seems like Duratrax enjoys not engineering any of their products... omg they're the new Mercury!

One thing no mentioned is the number of cool hop-ups this truck will probably have. Think of all the option parts DuraTrax offers for the Vendetta. I imagine lots of graphite and aluminum goodness.

that quad is only 1:18 scale... Its the MB4 4WD ATV
so it wouldnt quite compare with the Savage... But as long as it works and doesn't look too goofy or too much like a toy, I guess it could be cool

I agree. My one experience with Duratrax vehicles, the original Evader ST when it came out, was poor and has biased my opinion of them. There is no question, though, that they bring out tons of aluminum hop-ups to their vehicles :D. It should be fun to see these in the LHS.

This looks interesting indeed. On the one hand, I like the dual motor idea, but on the other, it'd be mighty expensive to go dual brushless (what, did you expect me to leave it with brushed stuff...?).

This is interesting. I didn't know that Duratrax vehicles were Anderson. Years ago I wasted a lot of money on their nitro 2wd 1/10 monster truck which was badged as Anderson, and they're still selling it unchanged :(. I thought it was quick, when it went. But that thing was the biggest pile of junk I've ever bought in my 19 years in RC. Despite what their website says how good the thing is, it's all lies. The suspension was garbage, the chassis flexed like there was no tomorrow. The engine hardly ever started, and the transmission is sooooo weak, I gave up buying replacement parts after replacing the diff twice in a couple weeks, with about 1 hour of use in total. The metal alloy they used in the diff is the junkiest stuff I've ever seen.
HOPEFULLY they have changed their quality of every aspect, otherwise I would be very careful about buying anything Anderson/Duratrax.
Still though, this new rock crawler looks cool :)

Two of these wouldn't be brutal: http://www.tcscrawlers.com/BM9-Brushless-Motor-High-power-motor-for-your-2.2-crawler-p-16269.html
But then again the price of ESC's would be.
Its an interesting design.

BM9 motors are killer for rock crawling. It's what I run in my current comp. The crazy amount of power they provide is great for steep climbs and finding your rigs weak points. They might rip a mini apart.

Yeah, the ESCs are what'd kill me in terms of price. Even two sidewinders would still run about 150 bucks or a little more after shipping.:(
Oh well; I'm not into the crawling thing anyways (though I do think it is neat).
