A Traxxas stampede + Feigao 7XL? To much power or to much torque. I need some help.

WAY too much. It'd be overkill if you intend to run it on 4s lipo or 12 cells. Even 3s lipo would probably be a bit nasty if you gear up.
Plus, that motor is very long, so it'll be hanging out of the 'pede's rear end all wacky tacky.

Okay, so whats a good high torque motor for my pede?

Would a 7L work better?

I would look into the tekin redline sensorless motors. Feigao motors or crap imo. Either that or i have had very bad luck with them nowadays they dont serve a purpose for 1/10 scale since there are other 1/10 scale motors you can buy that are not too much more expensive. Btw your biggest bet on torque would be what battery you use.

I could eather spend all my money on a Tekin system or get a 80A ESC and a KD36 08S motor for $76.00 at hobby city.

You'll probably be more satisfied overall with the Tekin setup. My feigao 540 8s is crap compared to the medusa V2 motor I have now (and the medusa is about double what I paid for the feigao- you get what you pay for).

The motor is not a feigao its something else. And I don't have much money.

If the entire combo costs 76 dollars for a 1/10 scale vehicle, you can bet the motor is going to be a cheap chinese made motor. The KD motors are probably very similar in build quality to the feigaos.
Just laying some options out there and giving you some first hand experience. If you have to, save up. It will be well worth it. The mamba max setups are a cheaper (but still very good performer) alternative to the tekins. The Castle motors aren't too bad (I have a 5700), and for a 'pede, a 4600 would fit the bill pretty well. Combine that setup with a good battery, and you should have plenty of power on tap. The combo will run you anywhere from 175ish to 212ish, which is much cheaper than the Tekins stuff. The sidewinder is another option; 140ish bucks. Castle products are definitely quality stuff from my experience.

I had a MM 6900 in my stampede and it was TOO MUCH.
I now have a Sidewinder 4600 and it's still a little more than it needs, but I'm happy with it on a 2s lipo.
For 140 bucks, the combo isn't a bad deal either. ;)

am i the only one here that is satisfied with his feigao? i have a feigao 9XL in my 1/8 truggy and so far it has served me well. the rotor came off the shaft so i used some araldite and fixed her up - for about $4.00 worth of glue it has performed very well, stayed fairly cool and overall im happy with it.
either way, if you are after a brushless motor for a 1/10 scale the feigoa 7 or 8L should be plenty of torque and good rpm, or go to UH (hobbycity) and they have a hoast of motors similar to the feigao's (unsure of quality) for about $25.00
what people say is true, you get what you pay for generally, and the quality is probably not going to be excellent, but sometimes the cheaper motor may be all you need.
take care,

I put a 9L (only 2730kv I believe) in my stampede once on 7.4v just to experiment. It was actually very nice at only about 20K RPM . I just figured the rollout and geared it to what I thought would be a good starting point and figured the motor could pull huge gear. It wasn't enough gear. I wound up with a 29t pinion on an 87 spur for 8.16:1 final drive before the motor ran nice and warm. It was good for 36 mph and plenty of torque. Being able to run such a large pinion in relation to the spur made for nicer mesh than you usually get with a pede and in combination with the low rpm, it was the quietest stampede I've ever heard. Looked kinda cool with the big motor in there too. I'd actually recommend an L for a stampede just to be different and have a "big block" look hehe. Only took it out because a friend wanted to buy it for an E-savage project.

It's around 70% of the mamba max's capabilities, so around 70 amps or so.

A 4600 on a 3s lipo is a ton of power. Even on 2s, it's probably pushing close to 500 watts on spikes. Not too shabby if ya ask me (for reference, 746 watts is one horsepower).
