Welcome to the club LOL. Get a Hyperion YC22 motor.

ET,

I bought a Y-22 6000kv a month ago for $34.99, and I received TWO in the mail!! I'm using both of them.. But they would power a Trinity NOW just fine. You won't want to go any faster..

You bought a Trinity product and expected quality??? That was mistake number one.
Anyway, sucks the rotor broke.

The truggy itself is actually not bad believe it or not; pretty solid for who sells it:D. The motor/radio gear on the other hand... Feigaos just plain suck.

killaj- The y-22 is a 20x45mm motor? You're right, the truck is plenty fast now; I just need a motor that won't grenade on me when using it how it came from the factory. I'm sure as hell not paying 50 bucks for a new feigao off of tower or direct from Trinity. I sent them an email, so we'll see if they send me a new motor. I'll look into the yc-22s though (got a job now for summer:D).

I'll be back in Ft. Lauderdale on the 26th of this month. PM me with your email address and we can hang sometime. I have a few motors of that nature I'd give ya.. Yeah, even the free Hyperion I scored. I kinda feel bad that you got jobbed.

PM sent!

The 26th is a Monday, so I'll probably be working, but my work schedule is looking like a Monday through Thursday, 8-4, type of dealy, so a Friday bash may be doable. Are you in Japan right now?

Don't feel bad for me. Feel bad for Trinity; after I call them Monday, I'm going to give them a piece of my mind...:D

hey ET, give feigao an e-mail directly. they told me they had reworked the rotors and replaced my 2 motors that went bad. (one rotor came off the shaft, the other cracked) and they have held up so far.

take care,
Demon

In Japan now, heading to China tomorrow. Then to Bangkok..

Demon- Good call; I'll see if I can get a hold of them instead. Dealing with Trinity is like having teeth pulled...with a spoon.

killaj- That's one helluva business trip. Nice yokey drifter too! That body looked pretty decent from the pics. That's one thing I like about drift cars; they tend to have detailed bodies.

killaj

The body is so awesome I almost don't want to run it. It has carbon-look inserts and hood vents which should actually work to allow some air to cool that 9000kv motor..

ElectricThunder

This is why I stopped running bodies on half of my RCs...:D They always get wrecked. LOL!

I should pick up a body for my Rustler and TT-01 though... Gotta protect my precious RPM shock towers!

Once I start beating one of the bodies up, it becomes my runner. Then I try to purchase another one for show. Took a hit on that Skyline GTR this morning in the hotel parking garage. Some dope was creeping up behind me as I was zooming up the rampway.. I turned to follow the rc as it went by and then this micro car appears out of nowhere! No damage luckily.. just bounced off the front tire of the real-size car after a knee-jerk reaction from yours truly.. But the body shows a NASCAR-looking fender scuff!

LOL! Get any funny looks from people running your "toy car" in the parking lot?:D

Actually, they all seem stunned at how fast it is. One guy commented that it looked like someone was towing it by an invisible string from the back of a motorcycle! The usual stuff we RC guys put up with.. Find a perfect spot, only to have gawkers slowly roll by to watch the action. Right smack dab in the middle of the way!

Yeah, so true. This is why I'm learning to fly my heli in the back yard. All the little kids in the neighborhood would try to touch it if I did it out front, and touching a blade with a head speed of 2500-3000 RPM is NOT a good idea. They get a kick out of my Rustler though (they try, but can never catch it...:D)

In other news, I sent the FUBAR motor back to Trinity (they said send it in and they'll gimme a replacement; I'm amazed that I actually got an email back! And it was immediate answers when I replied to it too!!!). I figured what the heck, so in it went. Had nothing else to do today after my little "interview" for the job my friend lined up for me (crossing my fingers that I definitely get it!!!! I NEED MONEY!!!!! I'm sick of being in "broke ass college student" mode). I think I may put up one of my RCs on ebay too (probably my T3; good parts truck).

Well, got the Trinity motor in the mail today. Took them about two weeks, so not too terrible of a turn around time.

The packaging was funny though; this itty bitty motor in a huge box with just weird cardboard paper stuffed in there. You could definitely rattle the motor in there, so it was a kinda shoddy pack job. Meh, got my motor....whatever. It runs so friggin' hot though... I temped it at 170F, which is too hot for my liking. I have the mamba cranked way down on timing and stuff too, so who knows.

btw your feiago rotor looks like my hacker c408t rotor after a HARD landing.

Heh... I was just driving along on a WOT pass, and then BAM. The car stops short and dead in its tracks. I walk up to it, and notice that the wheels barely turn, and there's a griniding sound, so I'm thinkin' it's the diffs. I check the posi, so it's not the spider gears or anything. I pop open the diff covers; not those either. So I unbolt the motor and notice the shaft is SUPER hard to turn; not like a statorless motor at all.

I'm afraid this replacement motor is going to do the same thing... And it's not going to suprise me when it does do it. It gets pretty dan hot after only a few minutes of running. Gear mesh is set perfectly (use the paper between the gears method, and the mesh is just right), nothing binds in the drivetrain, but the motor is just acting funny.

I wonder if a mamba 25 motor would work well. They have a 4200kv (about 200kv lower than what this feigao is IIRC) that would probably do the job; same length I think too.

The truck itself is great, but the damned motor....

The mamba 25 motors are great motors. I'm sure you can find one for really cheap on ebay too.

ElectricThunder
05-20-2008, 05:47 PM
They're about 45mm long and comparable to a 280 feigao right? The 4200 would be a nice replacement; especially if it runs cooler/better.

SpEEdyBL
05-25-2008, 08:26 PM
They are actually 30mm long, but way more efficient than feigao motors. My friend had the 8000 kv version on 8 cells I was amazed at the fact that the motor was barely warm to the touch in his mini-t while I had to quit running my feigao powered xxx-4 because of overheating issues.

Nice. RC is on the backburner for a while. If anything, I may sell the Trinity truggy and all its bits and pieces. Probably part out the electronics (spektrum receiver, motor, mamba 25, and then the chassis itself).
