I am thinking of changing my Dominator to brushless. What system should I go with? Does it have to be a HV Maxx system, or will a GTB & 3.5,or 4.5,or 5.5, ...?

The Ofna Dominator? You'd need a larger motor/ESC combo for something of that size if I'm thinking of the right vehicle. No way would a GTB system cut it.

I would either A) get a Mamba Monster ESC with a motor of your choice (depends on budget; you can also wait for the combo to come out towards the end of summer)...or B) wait for the NEW Novak HV system to come out.

So it's more the esc than the motor. If I went with the Mamba Monster, what motor?

It's both. The GTB can't handle the higher voltage needed to propel such a large vehicle, and the velociti motors are only 540 sized (and have small rotors). By that same token, while the HV maxx is more suited to the task, again, it still may not cut it if the truck is on the heavier side. As much as I like Novak products, the HV-maxx is becoming outdated, and the motors are just not powerful enough to run a larger truck while keeping the motor relatively cool.

It's tough to say what motor to run with the Mamba Monster. It also depends on how much you want to spend (because you get what you pay for). I'm not sure how much the Ofna Dominator weighs, but I'm sure a larger XL motor (about 75mm long IIRC) would work quite well if the truck is on the heavier side (10-15lbs.). The turn depends on gearing you can/want to run, how fast you want to go, and how much voltage you intend to run. Different motors will act differently too, so if you decide you want to go with a Neu 1512 or 1515 (well over 200 dollar motors), they're very efficient and can take more than something like a Feigao XL motor (about 60 or 70 bucks) before overheating.

These are a few things you want to think about before you buy a motor. To get some ideas, visit RC-monster.com. That is THE place for nitro to electric conversions, and I've learned plenty of things from that site. They're all crazy over there too...which is a good thing:D.

Thanks, I'll have to get to that site.
