I have been given a new Associated XP3D TX transmitter and need a FM receiver.

I also have Futuba R203HF 27mhz FM receiver but it will only work with the new 3PK system. (have tried it with the above)

My question is:
Do I need to buy a specific FM receiver or will any standard FM receiver work with the XP3d Transmitter hand set?

Any information greatly appreciated.

You didn't specify whether it is 27 or 75 MHz. Assuming it's 27 MHz since you tried one of that frequency but a High Rate Rx it seems to me that you should get a plain Jane 27MHz FM Rx and crystal to match that of the Tx. I think Hitec even makes one that has it's own synthesizer,

If it is 75MHz FM you may have a problem since there are two different signal shift patterns, Futaba/Hitec and everyone else, so you will need to determine which one is used by your Tx.

The XP3D is an FM 26, 27, 40 & 75MHz transmitter, I went with the 27MHz because I have a set of 27MHz FM matching crystals.

Would anyone know if this TX is compatible with Futaba or HPI "plain Jane" receivers?
e.g Futaba R133F or the HPI RF10

Many thanks

The transmitter is tuned to a certain frequency. If you got a European one, you'll need 40MHz crystals.
It shouldn't really work with any band that it's not factory tuned for.
And it might work with an R133F. I wish I could give a more definitive answer but somebody might know. Those haven't been out very long so it might take a while to get a definitive answer. :)
