I bought a second hand trainer plain (58inch wing span) with a OS 40 engine but the engine seemed a bit tired to me so I went on ebay and purchased a new SC 46. When I received it I realised that the engine is a bit bigger and that it does not fit onto my engine mount so I'll change the mount.

My big question is; Is this SC 46 engine suitable for a trainer plane with a wing span of 58inches?

I have now fitted the new engine and it seems fine for my plane. My question now is wat is the right feul to be used. At the moment I'm using 10% in it. Hope this is right.

Can anyone tell me how many turns I must adjust the fuel mixture neadle for?

Ideal needle settings are different for all engines, but to start begin at 2 1/2 turns out from seated. This should get it running and probably very rich. Open the throttle full and slowly turn the needle adjustment in until the engine RPM drops off slightly. From that point adjust the needle back open 1/4 turn. If RPM it drops off immediately after starting to turn needle in, open up another full turn and start closing again for max RPM then back off the 1/4 turn. This should be very close to correct for the in-flight setting.
I am not familiar with SC engines but 10% commercial fuel should be fine for sport trainer flying.
I hope this helps.
