Hi,

I'm looking for some info on charging a hump pack (6V, 1400mAh, NiMH)... I already have a charger that has 7.2V, 500mAh output and wanted to know if it would be safe and equally efficient to charge the hump pack on this charger so I wouldnt have to spend the money on yet another one. If so, how long? 2.5 hours? Thanks!

I have charged my receiver packs up to 2A. I don't think the leads and connecters can take much more than that.

so it should work? does the voltage difference matter (6V vs 7.2V)?

Your pack is 1400mAh
Your charger puts out 500mA @ 7.2v (yes, mA not mAh. mAh is a measure of capacity and mA is a measure of current).

I would expect 2 - 2.5hours. If the charger was a constant current unit at 500mA, you simply divide 1400 by 500, and get 2.8 hours (2:48).
But again, since the voltage output on the charger is higher, it should take less time.

The wall warts tend to put out a given amount of power, which will mean that yours puts out about 3.6watts. If the voltage holds around 6v, your charger will put out .6A (600mA), and will charge in about 2.3 hours (2:20)
