WHAT IS Kv??

I am thinking of getting a brushless moter for my 18R.I waz wondering what is Kv??.Is the higher the Kv the faster it will go,or the lower Kv that is faster.All i care about is the doing high speeds!!...Also what kind of moter is good,Mamba sport,exteme,NEU if that is for cars!!,Losi Xcelorin,and also Team Orion:)

KV = RPM/Volt.


8800kv brushless motor = 8800RPM from one volt. :D

ohhhhhhhh so what u r saying it that, say 4800Kv,is like 4800 rpm`s or somthing!!??

4800kv is 4800rpm per one volt.

srry,it is my first time witha new brushless moter,sooooo say i have a 4800Kv moter,and i have a 7.4 volt lipo battery,4800 times 7.4.will be like 30000+ RPMs!!...Also what kind of moter will be good,Mamba sport,exteme,NEU is it can go in cars,Losi Xcelorin.and team orion brushless moters

Yes, you have it :D A 4800kv BL motor will be about equal in top speed to my nitro motor. Prolly accelerate quicker, provided you can put the power down. As for good motor, I have no clue :P I'm a die-hard nitrohead. I have heard that Mamba's are pretty good tho. Traxxas VXL motors seem to be decent, tho they may not be the fastest motors around.

oooo ok ya well since u r a nitro proson,that is weird thou that u know that all,and thx,and also i have a XTM XT2,and i what to know what is a good kind of engie that u can put in to it,i what a 21 for it,O.S. ,and or AXIAL r thous good moters??

lol OS is great. I have an 18 CV-RX in my CEN MT2, and it will spin all four wheels on command! As far as Axial engines go, they're pretty good, they certainly won't let ya down :P

yup i know O.S. engines r the best,ya the 1 i what is the 21VG,or somthing like that but if i had the money i would like the O.S. speed,but it is 500$$$=/

i run a 5400kv(park 370) plane motor and a dynamite mini tazer esc in my rc18T, im waiting for my 3s lipo to get here. right now im using my 1200 IB 6cell pack, and it will MOVE

Be sure to also get a smaller pinion when you get the 3S LiPo in there. You motor will try to turn more than 50% faster, so you need to gear down to let it rev a bit more. I good starting point would be about 3/4 what you have now, it will still have a higher top speed. If you have a 16 tooth pinion now, that works out to a 12. With that gear it will go about 15% faster while pulling less current than it does now.
