New from Team XRAY (http://www.teamxray.com):

CNC-machined CVD drive axle for XB808 made from premium lightweight Swiss 7075 T6 hardcoated aluminum. Strategically-machined, super-lightweight drive axles are specially designed and produced for high-competition racing. The reduced weight is almost 3x less than the stock wheel axle, with a total weight saving of up to 20g for all 4 wheel axles.

Precision machined with highest tolerances using premium fully-automatic German CNC-machines. High-quality hardcoating is done at XRAY’s own in-house fully-robotic hardcoating line, ensuring a perfect hardcoated surface every time.

Fits XB808. Set of 4.

NOTICE: It is important to note that while these axles are very strong they do have a more limited lifespan than steel versions, and as such they should be inspected more frequently.

Part: 355212
Price: TBA

CVD is a trademark of MIP. I'm sure they're going to be happy that Xray stole it. It appears to be a pattern with them.

After the first lap on the track the dust you get on your tires will outweigh any savings you get from using these aluminum pieces.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean it makes sense to do it.

Then again it may make sense from X-Ray's financial point of view because they will be charging lots of money for a part that wears quickly.

OK, but you gain the same amount of dust on your tires whether you use the stock outdrives or not, so it is still lighter. :teacher:

The thing that doesn't make sense, is that racers will pay top dollar for these outdrives b/c they think that it will make them faster. And the thing that bugs me about the 808, if it is supposed to be the best racing buggy there is ("high luxury") then why is Xray still selling performance parts for it? look at all the other high class racers, the RC10B4, the XXX-CR, the kyosho buggy (they have so many, w/e the best one is) none of those cars are still getting factory performance upgrades, because they took the time to make sure the cars were as good as they could be before releasing them.

Some things just shouldn't be aluminum; axles would be one of them.

Many companies use the term CVD. Either way, a CVD is not constant at all, just a glorified U-joint. Also, what else did Xray steal? If you are referring to the Losi 8ight, sorry you are quite mistaken. Two VERY different vehicles.
