Hey, it's Stephen at Common Sense RC. We're now bundling power systems for the Quattro-E Trainer (as well as our other planes) as one package to save you a bunch of money! They include the motor, the ESC, the battery, the propeller, and of course the plane itself. This is the perfect way to get started in RC planes because most of the parts are included, it's really easy to build, and although it's easy to fly, it is also capable of some great aerobatics on higher levels. All you will need are the servos, the receiver and the radio.

This is the basic trainer package (http://www.commonsenserc.com/product_info.php?products_id=636) , which we recommend for beginners.

See it in action on our Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOk-B8qHpa8&feature=related

Hi Stephen,

That's a nice package, but only for someone who will be learning with a trainer at a club field. The overwhelming majority of beginner flyers do not fall into this category. Most of today's beginners are looking to learn on their own and to do so at local parks; back yards, farm fields, etc. A relatively large, heavy wood plane IS NOT THE PROPER CHOICE for these flyers. Also, an ARF plane is not a good selection because there are far too many variables that need to be properly set up. Its fine if there is an experienced flyer available to trim out the plane for the beginner, but if the beginner is on his/her own, it makes the task of learning to fly much more difficult. Foam RTF planes are far better for the vast majority of beginner flyers. These are the reasons why the HobbyZone SuperCub and the Multiplex EasyStar are such huge success stories!

Well, that's a good point. The package, though, includes everything except the receiver and servos and the construction is pretty easy. A buddy box would be a safer way of going about it. It would obviously be a huge challenge for someone with no experience to just go buy this one and start flying all by themselves, so sorry for stating it the way I did.

The problem with the planes you mention is that while they are great for beginners, talented flyers can get bored of them pretty quickly. The Quattro, capable of aerobatic maneuvers, will be a lot of fun for a long time. Thanks for the comment.

Hi Stephen,

I see from your website that you already carry one of the best beginner planes: the Multiplex EasyStar. Yoou might want to change your propmotion to include a reference to the EasyStar. You could indicate that the Quatro is ideal for beginners learning to fly with amn instuctor or for experienced flyers who want a good, inexpensive, quality plane for those "relaxing" flights; and that the EasyStar is for those who will be learning on their own.

By the way, your line of Multiplex planes does not include their biplane, the Gemini (not sure about the spelling). Is it available through your store?

Thanks for your interest, Leo. For those of you interested you can find the Multiplex EasyStar (http://www.commonsenserc.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=easy+star&x=0&y=0) as well as most Multiplex planes (http://www.commonsenserc.com/index.php?cPath=60_77) and Hitec products (http://www.commonsenserc.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=hitec&x=0&y=0) on our website. Sorry, we do not carry the Gemini, though.
