New from HPI (http://www.hpiracing.com):

The Trophy 3.5 is the perfect way to get into nitro 1/8 scale buggy racing! It's got everything you need for racing fun and bashing convenience, making it the perfect rallycross buggy for jumping right on the race track! It has a fully-featured racing chassis, a rugged competition suspension, all-new racing tyres, the powerful Nitro Star F3.5 (.21 cubic inch) engine and a reliable HPI radio system!

Not only is the Trophy 3.5 ready for the track, it looks amazing, too - with a sleek bodyshell painted with sweet racing graphics and awesome all-terrain rubber tyres wrapped around slick black chrome wheels, the Trophy looks as great as it performs! The high-downforce wing is all-business, and is covered with cool HPI graphics to complete the race-ready look. You can be sure that when it comes to bench-racing, the Trophy will be able to take home top honours!

The Trophy is packed with features that make it perfect for anyone wanting to step right into nitro buggy racing at the club level. Grippy tyres, long-travel suspension, pure racing geometry, thick chassis and shock towers, plus of course a race-legal engine make it the ideal choice for new rallycross racers!

Complete Racing Suspension

The Trophy chassis uses a full racing suspension that can be adjusted and refined for any type of terrain, any type of driver. It's fully adjustable and equipped with turnbuckles, optional suspension mounts, ride height clips, multiple shock mount locations, camber link options, sway bars and more. You'll be knocking out fast laps times quick and easy!

Dual Disc Brakes

Bringing everything to a fast and controlled stop are a pair of vented steel disc brakes. You've got to control the power of the monster Nitro Star F3.5 engine, and separate front and rear disc brakes are perfect for controlling the car in the tight and twisty areas of the track. With independent adjustments you can set the car to brake harder on the front or rear, as well as adjust the overall 'bite' of the brakes.

Low Centre of Gravity

Supreme handling comes from many sources, but one of the most important is having an extremely low Centre of Gravity, or 'CG' as it's known in racing. A low CG means you can corner harder, going faster through the turns than the next guy. The CG of the Trophy 3.5 is as low as we could get it, making it fast and reactive when cornering, allowing you to cut to the inside and steal victory!

Awesome Looks

With many racers, it's not just about on-track performance, it's also about looking great in the pits, and the Trophy 3.5 is the best-looking buggy we've seen in ages. A sweet tribal flame job combines with eye-catching colours to make other racers turn their heads when the Trophy races past. Awesome 'Proto' racing tyres are wrapped about sleek 7-spoke black chrome wheels and secured with purple wheel nuts for a look just says performance.

RC guys and girls who like to 'bash' around love their huge engines and big air, but when it comes to organized racing just about every club has a maximum engine size: .21 cubic inches or 3.5 cubic centimeters (3.5cc). This is where the awesome F3.5 engine comes into play! The Nitro Star F3.5 has 2.5 horsepower waiting for you at the pull of the trigger! It's the perfect match for the Trophy package, with its subdued black CNC-machined heatsink head, finned aluminium case, composite-body slide carburettor and full range of tuning adjustments to let you tune it for all weather and track conditions.

On the inside, the F3.5 has true ABC construction, with a chrome-plated brass piston and cylinder surrounded by the lightweight aluminium case. To get you going quickly, the F3.5 uses a pullstarter system, and a large opening on the underside of the chassis allows you to utilise a starter box for even faster engine starting. If you want to upgrade to easier engine starting, just install the #87130 HPI Roto Start 2 engine starting system for push-button engine starting!

Comes complete with pre-painted bodyshell, engine and radio gear (does not include radio batteries). Includes comprehensive instruction manual and HPI RC Cars DVD.

Looks like another perfectly competent entry in the RTR nitro buggy market, which is gi-normous. Remember the giant RTR buggy shootout in RCCA (which could have been twice as big if every OFNA/Hyper deriviative were included?) It's a wonder any of them can get any market penetration!

Yeah, Duratrax have one out so can't see why Traxxas can't. Be sweet if they use the Slayer/Revo suspension

It's just a renamed Hot Bodies Lightning 2, exactly the same thing they did with the HB E-Zilla that became the E-Savage. I expected more when I read the title.

Atleast they choose to copy something good. I'm not going to bash them seeing how many companies choose to rebadge crappy designs.

If they sell them for around $350 street price like the original Lightning RTRs, they'll sell a bajillion. Its such an under rated car.

I own a hotbodies lightning 2 sport and so does my dad and they a fabulouse. they jump great and are really predictable in the air. I have a buddy that also only races hotbodies stuff. They are completely underrated. i live in Spokane and i am hoping to race my hotbodies at the rc manufatuers race next year. Wish i could have this year but i just moved here and didnt realize that there was so much rc stuff up here. Those rims are damn nice.

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they already selling the "HPI Lightning" over there to begin with? If so, whats the point of another HPI buggy?
