It's not uncommon for accessory giant, Pro-Line, to pull a rabbit out of the hat just before a major race. For years they've released new tread patterns just before a big event and the tire went onto dominate the race. Well, Pro-Line might of done it again with the release of their new V3 wheel and tire. The V3 is 5-millimeters wider than the V2, which was released at the ROAR Nationals. The only tread pattern we know of thus far that will be offered for the V3 is the Bow Tie (we assume all compounds). Several of Pro-Line's top drivers including Ryan Cavalieri, Richard Saxton, Chad Bradley, Gary Guest, Ronda Skelton, Jeremy Kortz, Jeff Guest, and many others got to try the tires for the time yesterday. The drivers reported that they are more consistent, and you can now drive a buggy much harder. Their lap times were indeed faster! We'll have to wait and see what everyone reaches for at the Worlds, but we know Pro-Line is "betting the Farm."
Thanks Scott and Pro-Line for having me down for the release!
Quick Notes
-Much wider (5-millimeters)
-Faster lap times (confirmed by computer recorded lap times, Pro-Line test track, Banning, CA; hard-packed, loose on top, moderately bumpy)
-Longer wear because of the larger contact area (makes sense, since truggy tires last much longer)
-Bow-Ties currently offered (all compounds, M3, M2, XTR)
-Will be released September 15th
Here are some photos to show the width difference.
You can see that the V3 also has an extra row of center lugs.
