This is pretty much a beginner question. I think...
I understand how the servos (steering/throttle) operate but what do you look for specifically when selecting them. There are so many options high speed, high torque, both.......
Car: Offroad 1/8th Buggy
Steering: ????
Throttle: ????
Thanks everyone!

More torque the better. Don't buy a cheap throttle servo, especially if you have a Losi 8ight.
Steering: JR Z9100T, Airtronics 94358, Futaba 9351, etc.
Throttle: The same, or if you are on more of a budget, JR Z4800T seems to be really nice.

Eric - how are the Traxxas digital servos?
• 125 oz-in torque
• Transit time 0.16 sec/60°
and digital and waterproof, this seems to be not bad for a 1/10 car.
I am wanting one that would be an improvement over what I have. The ones I have don't hold centre too well, I'm always adjusting the trim controls to keep it going straight, just little bits, but it gets frustrating.
The ones I am using are all basic Futaba 3003 ones or the equivalent Airtronics cheapo ones that come with B4 RTR's. Obviously I'm only using them for steering, in a B4 and a Tamiya TA05 with brushless power.
Any help would be great, especially if it comes in the next hour or so as there are some on ebay I've got my eyes on :D

for the steering you want a fast hight torque servo. and for throttle you want a faster speed and not as much torque is needed.

Thanks Bigboots, but I was in particular asking about the Traxxas high torque digital servos. Are they any good?
For electric, you don't need a servo for throttle, only steering.
And I would assume that less demands are needed for 1/10 electric than 1/8 nitro.
But thanks for your input :)

for steering i would look into the associated xp 1015 servo
and for throttle look into like a 9000s or something similar.
the faster throttle servo the better.. as long as it has at least 80 oz in of torq thats plenty for brakes.
for steering you want a minimum of 200

The Traxxas waterproof digital job isn't so bad. It'd be alright in something small and light but don't expect overwhelming precision or anything. They're just cheap and better than what they used to have.
I haven't felt the need to change the one in my Slash yet. Waterproof is cool.
This thread has been officially hijacked. :D
