My favorite HW is the Fat Fender.
These Fat Fender 40's are what started me Customizing, or UnCustomizing as I like to say.
Here's one with a lot of changes.
Notice the bumpers.
They were sanded and polished to a fine luster.
Then the heavy support struts on the front bumper were removed for a nice sleek look.
The bumpers look so much better without the rough factory edges.
A little less than 1/16" was removed from the bottom of the front roof pillars and center windshield brace. Correspondingly just under 1/16" was cut away (at a very slight forward angle) from the top of the side B roof pillars. These cuts allowed the roof to be bent down for a very nice rake.
I used a hammer and a hard rubber cushion to gently tap the roof into shape.
You can also use a vise.
JB Weld was used to fill in the very tiny gap between pillars and roof and pillars and rear of hood.
Naturally with the rake of the roof the factory windows would not reinsert.
Side and rear windows are clear Mylar and front windows are Liquid Windows.
Rings of 1/2" PVC form the huge fenders that are attached with Super Glue and filled in with Quik Steel.
To align the fenders perfectly so wheels would remain centered I laid 1/2" wooden dowels, wrapped in SaranWrap, in the existing fender wells.
I shaped the fenders around them and then simply removed the dowels.
Then came lots of sanding, filing and reshaping.
Two toned Johnny Lightning '53 Riviera interior.
Rhinestone taillights.
Front and Rear Windshield trim.
Tires from 50th Anni MBox 55 Chevy Convertibles. KB Toys had them on clearance for 66 cents and I picked up 89 of them.
Planet Green over base Shimrin White with final Urethane ClearCoat and Emerald Green Pearl-Ex Powder.
All House Of Kolor products, Of Course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4 more sit primed and awaiting basecoats.
