I've been working on this Spadet LC-40 made of coroplast sign material. It has a 64" wingspan and will be powered by a .46 engine.I added foam ribs to the wing which is not part of the plans and an aileron servo on each wing half. After it's all done I'll decorate it with sign vinyl and learn to fly it .

What is the thickness of the coroplast? How much of a difference between main body and the wings? It looks really nice please keep up the post and let us know how she flys.

The coro for the fuselage is 4mm and the wing has 4mm on the bottom and 2mm on top.I've been doing it slowly, between doing other things.I ordered some wheels and landing gear parts and I can get it completed except for an engine and some sign vinyl to make it pretty and easier to see.I'm mainly into big gas powered boats ,but this was a fun project.I've been thinking of building a boat and instead of covering the hull with wood,I'd use the 4mm coroplast and cover it with light fiberglass.Should be a lot lighter than a plywood covered hull, but might flip easier at high speed.

Thanks for the info. I just got my hands on some thinner coroplast (I can get all the thicker stuff I want) I am thinking that it is time to build a coroplast plane. Do you think the CG will be 25% to 30% back from leading edge? If I made the wingspan 42" how long should I make the fuse?

Thanks,

I don't know too much about the CG yet. After I get the gear on and the engine ,that's what I'll be working on next .As for wingspan versus fuse length ,you should go on www.spadworld.net and ask there. There a lot of helpful guys there. That's where I get my questions answered.

Is spadworld where you got the plans from? I have visited that site and you are right they are very helpful. I will go back and get my questions answered.

The plans for some of the SPADs are on http://www.spadtothebone.com/freeplans.htm Use the drop downs for each type of plane on the blue bar and click on the spad index on the page that comes up.Some of the guys on spadworld.net have sites of their own with more plans of planes they designed and built. You can use the plans or design something of your own,but if you mention something to those guys you have to build it and show pics of the build and video of the maiden flight.

Sleepwalker,
Are you still out there? Sorry it has been so long. I let this thread fall into the cracks. Any updates?
