I just got my first lipo battery. I have a slotted chassis touring car and after a lot of filing and dremeling the battery fits. Now I'm trying to balance the chassis. My idea is to stick lead weights on the bottom of the battery so they fit in the slots of the chassis and keep the CG as low as possible. The only problem is with the self-adhesive tape on them they are thicker than the chassis plate. So, if I were to shoe goo them on... 1) would they stay put during a bad wreck? and 2) Would I be able to take them off later cleanly without damaging the battery? Thanks for the help.

yes, and yes. Shoe goo will NOT come off unless you want it off...and will hold well. I have shoe-goo'd several ESC's down, and no matter HOW HARD you beat the car/truck, the goo holds.

shoe goo is amazing! it will never come off of anything! Another good use for it is to spread it on the inside of your body on the paint. That will protect your paint job forever!!

How do I go about removing the weights without hurting the battery pack?

Actually, it's not that bad, you can carefully pry it off without damaging anything, but if it really worries you, there is a substance called Goo-Gone that makes it a lot easier to remove. The guys are right, for sticking weights to the bottom of the battery like that, there's NOTHING better than Shoe-Goo(I've even used it to mount a servo on a chassis with no screw-down mounts, held up just fine, didn't budge in the least).....

If it is a hard case lipo you just use an Xacto or razor blade to slice a little bit of the shoe goo. After that it will pry off pretty easily. That said there are LiPo trays that are weighted to help balance the car, you might want to look at one of them as it will reduce the amount of lead you will have to glue to the battery.
