Interesting! I'll probably wait and see how the gear holds up to high-power brushless systems, and if it looks to be good, I'll most likely grab one. Anything to help my Slash run better :D
If they release a version with a metal gear, I'll be on it like a fat kid on a cupcake :D

Losi and Associated vehicles have all plastic transmissions that have held up to tons of horsepower since the start of r/c...
Bad thing is people will not set the slipper clutch correctly causing damage.

I absolutely have to have this for my Slash.
It is a requirement.

I have been waiting for MIP to do this, The traxxas version needs a hole drilled in the tranny to allow adjustment. The MIP should work like an associated, hex in one cup and trun the other

ok this might sound like a really stupid question but i am new to rc cars i have a rustler what is the advantage to the ball diff over the stock diff?

they are adjustable and allow for tighter diff action than the traxxas gear diff allows

Adjustability, and they're considerably smoother than a gear diff. If you're not racing, just look the other way - the gear diff will be far more durable. I'm of the opinion that once you find the proper oil/grease for a gear diff, they're the better "all-around" option. Set it and forget it!
That said, if I took my racing more seriously, I'd probably pick up the MIP diff to help dial my Slash in to the "nth" degree. But I'm pretty sure these won't be allowed in most spec programs.

The advantage of a ball diff over a gear diff (which is what all Magnum 272 transmissions come with) is that ball diffs can be tightened to prevent wheel-spin. For example, with a gear diff, there is minimal resistance allowing both drive wheels to turn at different rates when cornering. However, when one of the drive wheels is off the ground and the other is on the ground or when the weight of the car is transferred to the outer wheel during a turn, (this happens constantly during offroad racing) because there's so little resistance, the wheel that is on the ground or the wheel with the most weight transferred to it will lose power and the wheel off the ground or with the lighter load will spin like mad until both wheels are again on the ground. The disadvantages of this phenomenon in a racing situation are obvious.
A ball diff however can be adjusted or tightened to allow for more resistance so while the car is cornering or one wheel is not on the ground, the wheel that remains on the ground or with the most traction still has a good amount of power going to it. Therefore, the car doesn't slow down as much and energy isn't wasted on the spinning wheel that has little or no traction.
Ball diffs are more complicated and finicky. They need to be rebuilt and maintained more because they operate with more friction. Some might disagree but ball diffs don't seem to be as tough as gear diffs when a lot of power is being applied. Gear diffs on the other hand are not as complex and don't require much (any?) maintenance. In short, if you're just bashing, you should probably save your money and stick to the good old gear diff. If you're serious about racing, a ball diff is something you might want to look into.
Almost forgot, some gear diffs can be tightened to some degree by sealing them and filling them with thick grease. I believe the new SC10 has such a feature.

I've got a ball diff coming for my 5700 powered Slash and the new rear CVD's as well. We'll see how they do.

Are the Integy CVDs for the Stampede/Slash/Bandit/Rustler any good? Does anyone use them?

This is great and all, but where's a sealed silicone diff? I loved the one on my Jato and would love to have the same option for my slash, stampede and rustler.
