I have a House of Balsa Spacewalker that I built a couple years ago. Its made for an engine size .074-.10. I want to convert it to electric. I also have a Skyzone Cessna 182 that I recently crashed. I would like to slavage the motor, esc, battery, and receiver and put it all in the Spacewalker.
My question is, is this 380 size motor big enough for this plane?
Here are the particulars for the Spacewalker:
wing area: 329 sq in
fuse length: 28 1/4"
weight: 28 oz
wing loading: 12.25 oz/sq ft
wing length: 47"
center of gravity: 1.75" back from leading edge at fuse
Any help will be greartly appreciated as I am a beginner.

Since no one has answered I'll thro my two cents in. Most likely no is the answer. I think with that weight and wing size you might want a 480 size motor. May I suggest you look toward a brushless solution. slickzero.com and hobbycity.com are two good sources of motors for us beginners. Look at motors with rating like the park 450 or park 480 motors. These are great motors they just cost an arm and a leg to get them. Best luck dude.

At 28 ounces, or about 1.75 pounds you will want a brushless motor of 150-250 watts, depending on what kind of performance you wish.
The combo 15A or 19A would probably work for you.

There are hundreds of other combinations from lots of different suppliers as well, but these seem to be a good fit.

If you are looking for good equipment at a good price go to hobbycity.com and look in the motor/ESC/prop combo section on the left side of the screen. I agree with aeajr go with a brushless there is a 25 amp combo that with a smaller prop would fit in your range.
