Every now and then HotWheels nails one.
The 1962 Chevy Pickup is so well defined it begs for Customizers to work their magic.
Every detail of this Casting is so cleanly manufactured that taping off this Casting for a variety of paint schemes is a cinch.
I've got a Chevy Dealership full of these little beauties coming out of my Ovens and I'm anxious to begin showing them.
While they require some filing and sanding, i.e., front and rear corners, window and wheel openings, edges of the hood on the sides and front, roof, inside of the grill opening and inside of the bed edges, it's a very well made piece of Diecast.
The recessed beltline running around both sides and front and the cast dart in the center of the hood offer themselves to be taped off and easily trimmed out with an X-Acto knife.
It's very easy to get a nice clean line if you use the right tape, and I suggest Tamiya Masking Tape.
With a barge of these clearcoated and awaiting assembly with different wheel applications, I can't wait to start posting them up.
I'll start off with the most simple of the paintjobs.
Here's a real easy two-tone,
Primered and basecoated with Zenith Gold.
Covered entirely with Intercoat Clear tinted with Pagan Gold and Aztec Gold Pearl-Ex Powder.
Taped and then shot with Intercoat Clear tinted with Candy Organic Green Intensifier and Spring Green Pearl-Ex Powder.
Tape is removed and the whole thing shot with a diluted Candy Pagan Gold.
Detailed,
Center Caps for fog light covers.
Notice that the Candy Organic Green runs around the inside of the bed at the very top of the wheel wells.
This ensures that the bed will be all green inside once the bed floor insert is installed.

Making use of the little dart that is cast in the center of the hood is a great way to take advantage of what HW's has done here.
It let's you break up the colors for a nice contrast.
Thanks for looking,
