Oh man. My age is showing :D. I watched Punky Brewster when I was a kid.
Anyways, I don't think I watched that episode. If ever, I am not into RCs then...or else I will be drooling over those Tamiyas.

Aww, the good old days. Mechanical speed controllers, 1100 MAH Ni-CD batteries, "brick" style transmitters, dry shocks, and all the cool Tamiya hard body kits.

Harrison Ford's son is playing with an electric stadium truck in the beginning of the movie "Firewall". What was it?
Anybody remember the episode of "Knight Rider"(original) where the kidnappers are holding people in like a hangar and this kids got a Tamiya Audi rally car and KITT controls the car and stuff.
Also don't forget "Small Soldiers" movie in which the bad guys drove rc cars equipped with weapons. And also the Emaxx in "The Rookie" movie. And I heard that there will be a little remote controlled car sized transformer "Wheels or Wheelie" in the upcoming Transformer 2 movie.

Ya I heard that also.
I hope they use a real rc car not some radioshack thing!
I showed this to my sis.
She said she watch this tv show every day when it was on.

There was an R/C car too in that movie Runaway, with Tom Selleck and Gene Simmons was the bad guy. They dropped it from a full size car and it had a bomb on it. I don't remeber what it was though...

Last video posted was "The Dead Pool" starring Clint Eastwood.
Another movie that had a r/c car was "Bad Boys 2" with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. They had explosives attached to a Tamiya TXT-1.

Yeah, back then you were lucky to pull 7 minutes off a stock electric setup! I haven't seen the movie since it's release - I think I was around 12. Did they add nitro sound effects to the Vette? From what I remember, it was a gold-tub RC10 with a Parma '63 Vette body, Jay Halsey did the piloting. I can't imagine how many packs they went through to get finish the scene, considering the horsepower that car was running.
I geeked out over the RCCA issue that had the write-up, and eventually built my own version of the car years later. Minus the bomb.
