How old are the engines ? They could be worn out .
I have found that priming mine before I start it cuts down on the slipping , I use a primer bulb from an Associated MGT too get fuel into the engine as it seems like it slips more when the inside of the engine is dry .

I have to second this statement!
They need to not have too much oil in them and when you let the engine sit for a while, the alcohol evaporates out of the bearing, leaving only oil. That makes it slip. When you get it running once, and the thing gets fuel pushed through it, it washes out all the old oil. Now your one-way will grab because it's not flooded with oil. All you have to do is prime it a bunch and get it to turn over once or twice. Then you should be good for basically all day.
