New from HPI (http://www.hpiracing.com):

HPI is proud to introduce one of the legends of classic motorsports history: the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR! Incredible attention to detail and scale realism makes the HPI Porsche 911 Carrera RSR body a true replica of the car that defined sports car racing for a generation of fans. The 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR body comes with vinyl window masks, a complete set of pre-cut vinyl decals and headlight buckets for an incredibly realistic look. Add your own choice of paint colour and you're ready to take on the racing grid with this legendary vintage race car.

The Porsche name was built on agility and power: with a small frame, low weight and powerful engine, Porsche cars such as the 356, 550 and 911 were very popular with racers and sports car fans around the world. In 1972, after a rules change in the World Sportscar Championship, Porsche unleashed the ultra-lightweight 911 Carrera RS 2.7 for the road, as well as the RSR racing version in the Group 4 GT class. This model was based on the 911 S which had won the Monte Carlo Rally and was designed to take on cars with engines twice as strong. For the 1973 racing season the engine increased in size to 2.8 litres, and the screaming flat-six 'boxer' engine pushed out 300hp at 8,000 RPM, proving to be the ideal match for the nimble 911 chassis. The potent combination of a lightweight chassis fitted with a powerful engine proved to be unbeatable in the hands of the right drivers, and the production-based Carrera RSR 2.8 won several of the highest-profile races of the mid-1970's ahead of prototype cars from Ferrari, Ford and Maserati, including its race debut at the Daytona 24hrs as well as the Sebring 12hrs and the iconic Targa Florio - sealing its place in motorsport history.

Like all HPI bodies, the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR comes with a clear protective overspray film, window masks and a large decal sheet. Made of flexible vinyl to fit every curve on the body, the decal sheet includes official Porsche, Carrera & Martiini decals, headlights, tail lights, and door handles, plus official HPI Racing logos! The body also has drill locations marked for HPI Cup Racer cars, making it easy to line up the body mount and antenna holes.

Premium vinyl decals include window frames, headlights, grille, tail lights, official logos and more - For a perfect finish with a lot of details
High quality polycarbonate with excellent dimensional stability and impact resistance - For extra strength and longer life
Pre-drilled body post holes
Fits the HPI Cup Racer and other "Mini" size cars

Match the Porsche Carrera RSR body with our replica Porsche 'Fuchs' wheels for real period authenticity!

That is just incredible, right up there with Tamiya's bodies. Being a huge 911 fan, i might get a Cup Racer just to have this body.

Sensational looks. And the wheels are incredible too, they look like real aluminium, although I guess they are actually plastic rims? Only downside is I can't see them looking at home with many other bodies. At last someone dares to compete with Tamiya and designs the chassis to fit the body at true scale, with the right track and wheelbase.

That is one sweet body. The biggest problem with the cup racers is that i want them all!

Just buy 1 kit and all the bodies and change them every so often.

HPI, looks good but can we get one that'll fit a Sprint 2/TT-01? I think there's a sizable crowd out there that runs 1/10 scale 190mm cars.

Whats the price difference when you get done buying the body, rims, and tires though.

I don't think they will, not yet anyway. When they announced the new cup racer, they said they mad it adjustable scale wise so they could really concentrate on older vintage supercars....

That being said, if the "back to scale" looks take off, I bet they will get some newer stuff in there...

Unless Pro-Line starts making bodies for it which I am sure they will at some point. Probably be vintage though.

Now if they would just do it and the other Cup car bodiesin standard 190mm or 200mm we could have Vintage GT as well as V/TA

That body looks amazing, but for me the thing that really sells it are those replica fuchs wheels. I'm a big porsche fan, and I have to say this looks fantastic! I don't think I've been this excited about a kit or a body in a long time.

I wonder if there is a "whale tail" in the body package as an option to make it look like the 1975 and to help with the aero

Don't want to take this off topic, but is this what you mean by 2008 on?

M-Scale looks to be taking off big time, and this HPI kit fits in to the M-Scale group, so you shouldn't have to rely on just one make alone, but would love to see a heat of pre-1980 cars going around.

And if you want to keep it Nostalgic, then Kawada also do this Lotus Elan
