Mamba Monster Max + HPI Nitro MT = WOOOOO HAAAAAA
A guy I know pulled me out of painting retirement by offering me a HPI N-MT roller in trade for a simple paint job, I said heck ya!!
Well the wheels in my head started rolling instantly lol
I already knew what I was going to do.
First I traded off my comp crawler for a MMM with a 9L
Then the build began.
Made up a motor mount.

Guys this thing is insane, I feel like a little kid with my first hobby grade driving this thing, or the guy going from his XL1 pede going to a 3.3 revo.

Proof the MMM is a tire ripper!!!!!!!!!

And a few random shots.

This thing is insane to drive, more power than any RC should ever have.......
I LOVE IT
I'm upgrading the drive-line to MT2 and going with E-Savage diff gears and aluminum diff cases.
Comments positive or negative I don't care.

Looks awesome. I have a fiego and a MMM in a XB8 and I love it.
Can you tell me what you use for a battery?

I was running two 3300mAh 6cell packs but will be trying a 11.1v 3s 25c lipo Its going to dump a ton of weight using the lipo so I'm guessing I should see about the same proformance.
Well today still no parts in the mail, So I figured paint the chassis.
I had this old John Deere paint and decal remover, So I spray the chassis plate with it and the paint just bubbles up. Just wipes rite off SWEET.
Raining out can't paint.
So I then hit it with brass wire brush.
Then buffed it out, who needs paint, I'm going to leave it like this I like it.

Also forgot to mention going to try dumping some weight and a few volts and see what happens.
In goes a 11.1v3s 25c 2200mah lipo

Looking good ZLB! That chassis came out really nice. Who needs paint!!!:D

I think you are seriously underpowered!
I usually run mine on 4S 6000 mAh Lipo. Sometimes on 6S.
Careful with your pack. The amount of current it can supply isn't really up to the task of hauling around that heavy rig. If you have a second pack that size, make yourself an adapter plug and run them both in parallel and it should be ok.

06-20-2009, 03:28 PM
Well the plan to start with was to run 2 of these packs, but the feigao 9l isnt rated for more than 4s.
I was running 12 cells in it and it was very heavy but its around the same weight as a pede without those heavy packs on it.
I'm going to give it a try and see how it goes on 3s but if I'm not happy with it I will probably see if I can trade off the two 3s packs for two 2s packs.

If it ever stops raining and I get the rest of my parts for it.
Tracking says my output cups should be here monday and my new Tower Hobbies 2.4 radio and HItec 5645 servo should be here tuesday.
So should have it back up and running by tuesday easy.
I'll have to put the camera on the hood of my truck to get video, this truck takes both hands to drive.

I've got two of those mystery packs running in parallel 2800mah, 5s 30c rated each love em :) something that can finally keep up with my 100 amp draw and it didnt cost me over 100 bucks.

Lots of changes to it since then, now running 5000mAh 2s lipo x2 tires are spent and waiting on more MT2 parts to upgrade the weak center drive line.
Heres what happens when you run a truck with this kind of power after breaking the rear tranny to diff shaft.

Use the MMM to your advantage, go with a lower amp 6S and low KV motor. You'll have a killer setup, not to mention killer efficiency. Only thing is, if it's a MMM V2, you'll do well to order a V3 case, the extra few mm in height will go a long in avoiding a broken BEC due to impacts against the bottom of the case. Joe Ford should be able to hook you up.

I'll have to check, how do I know if its V2?
I cant really afford a different motor at this point and dont really see the need to run 6s on this rig, its overpowered enough as it is.
I'd like to put this thing on a track and if it had any more power it would be even more uncontrolable than it is now, and break more parts, not from hitting things but just from the power.
I can get 45min of run time now and still have yet to hit the lipo cut off of 12v.
Input is welcome tho, I'm still a newb when it comes to lipo.
As it is its already got 4x + the power it did as a nitro.

If it was purchased last year then it's a V2. Check out the Castle Creations thread at RCM for a ton of info on the MMM, and what care should be taken with them, because they can be temperamental sometimes.

awesome ride man... and what r ya gonna put all that power into now? possibly a 1/8 buggy?
zueslilbuddy
08-08-2009, 10:27 AM
Yup it went into an Ofna LX-1 and blew the motor.
The chassis is in the for section now all hopped up and ready for a HUGE nitro motor or to be converted back to brushless.

how did you "blow the motor"?
zueslilbuddy
08-08-2009, 12:47 PM
The buggy was too heavy I think not sure, temps didnt seem hot at all.
Hope its just the motor because I wanted a CC2200 anyway :P

what happened to the mamba monster?
zueslilbuddy
01-12-2010, 06:28 PM
I had put it in a 1/8 buggy and it detonated, it was way too much for this rig anyway.
Heres a vid of it this fall running mamba max and Feigao 9L motor, its plenty fast enough with the MM

Well My new Feigao 9L has come, ordered another rx for my Tower 224 2.4 radio last night and my buddy who borrowed my pinions will be bringing them back on saturday.
Going to water proof it I think, so I can beat it this winter.
