"AutoFest Jada Oil Tanker"

I was contacted by two people from HobbyTalk to make something for the upocoming AutoFest 2009 in Southbend, Indiana on August 14 - 16.

The first to contact me was our own LPGeoTeacher and his Custom is almost complete with Center Caps yet to be installed this evening.

The other guy was one of our own Mods aka Mini-Motors who is deeply involved in the AutoFest event.
I wasn't aware of AutoFest but when Mark told me whatever I made would benefit the Association for the Developmentally Disabled ( the AutoFest Charity) I jumped right in.

What began as a 2 car set quickly turned into a 3 car set.
Beginning with a Jada Divco and HW Dairy Delivery I added in this Jada Oil Tanker.
This is the first installment of the 3 car Custom set.

The Oil Tanker apparatus is removed from the casting and the top is filled with JB.
Original old style headlights are removed, holes are filled (again with JB) and new holes drilled for Rhinestone inserts.
Red Rhinestones are used for Taillights and forward Roof Signals.
Freehand windshield trim done with a toothpick and Testors Chrome.
1/64" Gold Trim Tape separates portions of the roof.

Body is stripped, filed of all imperfections, sanded and then rubbed down with #3 Steel Wool.
Primered and then rear fenders are shot LimeTime Pearl.
Fenders are InterCoat Cleared, taped and the whole thing is shot Tangelo Pearl.
Body is InterCoat Cleared and then Body, Hood and partial Roof are taped and the Roof Shell is shot Black.

Black portion of Roof is InterCoat Cleared and then taped.
Entire exposed body is shot a diluted Candy Pagan Gold with Bright Yellow Pearl Powder, completely changing the Tangelo Pearl and Limetime Pearl and tying them both together and into the same color temperature zone.

Details and Decals are applied.
I used my own graphics stemming from my WhiteWing BatMobile cars.
Once again, Clear InkJet Decals over dark backgrounds, it must be magic!!!!!!

Cler InkJet Decal paper from Papilio.com

Cleared with HOK Urethane Clear and a healthy dose of Aztec Gold Pearl Powder.
All Products Used Are Exclusively House Of Kolor, Of Course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a little study in how much difference a good ClearCoat makes and how much you can change any color with the addition of a Candy Coat and/or Pearl Powder Aditives.
