View Full Version : trying to figure out what this is so we can repair it for a young man.

A 9 year old young man saved his money to purchase his first nitro vehicle. He saw this thing at some used second hand store and bought it as it sorta fit what he was looking for, yet substantially less than a new truck.

Alas tho, unfortunately it has been well abused, the torque .12 is toast, and there are some parts installed on this vehicle that I do not believe belong to it, as well as we would like to find other replacement parts for it if they are available.

If anyone could shed some light on the lineage/heritage of this beast he and I would be very elated, and would make happy campers out of us all.. Specially if spare parts are still available.. Yes I'm aware that the front carriers, etc are incorrect for the model and are mounted on the wrong sides of the truck, but thats the way it was sold to him.. Buyer beware of used, undocumented stuff..

Heres some photos if it will help..

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Steering servo on the left side of the chassis is different, as is the wedge shaped gas tank.

Sorry, I got no clues. I looked at the old manuals on the Associated site, and it doesn't match the 1999 RC10GT plans.

yea after posting these it wasnt long for someone to point us in the right direction..
found manuals and parts blow up and list for the lads dad to peruse through and decide on whats needed to replace to get it back in usable shape..
engines the big chunk of change for them... i do not have any small block engines at all in my collection to donate as there all .21's and up.
I believe the lad deserves a new engine to get to break in,(with his fathers and my help of course) so that is the path i believe they are currently pursuing. as we all know the second hand store owner is not going to provide a new, etc. engine to them, when dd again asks him what he can do for the dead motors warranty.
thanks again all for your help..
ttfn,
chuck

You might try RCTech.net....there is a parts donation thread on that forum. You might find someone donating a small block engine. You usually just have to pay the shipping for the donated part to be sent to you.
