Hello everyone.

I have the Mamba Max 5700kv for my Traxxas Rustler. I have had my Mamaba Max for several years now, and when I purchased it, it came with the CastleLink CD for installation. It is to my understanding that the ESC's no longer come with the CD for installation but must be downloaded from Castle Creations website, is this correct?

Anyways, ever since I got my new HP laptop with 32-bit Vista my Castle link program has never worked. I tried installing it to my computer with the provided CD and no luck. I then proceded to install the program by downloading it from Castle Creations website. Once again, no luck. When I would download the program from Castle Creations website, the program itself would not even install. It would get so far then the "little green bar", to show how far installation is coming along, would stop. Then a message would show, "Rolling Back Action". And the window would show that the program has ended prematurely.

I decided to take a different route and install the program on my external hard drive, a Western Digital 500 gb external hard drive. After using the CD to install the program to my external hard drive and executing the castle creations .exe file, hooking up my MM5700kv to my computer, it recognized it and is now operating normally.

I then tried to download the CastleLink program from the Castle Creations website to my external hard drive and my flash drive. During the Installation, the same problem occurred where I saw the message “Rolling Back Action” and the same message of the program has ended prematurely. Unfortunately, downloading from the website never worked no matter where I installed it to, i.e. my computer, flash drive, or external hard drive.

Now, there is no guarantee that this will work for everyone or anyone at all, maybe I got lucky. I knew there are lots of people out there that are having this problem so I decided to share how I was able to get the program to work for me. Let me know if this works for you or even if it doesn’t.

So in other words, install the CastleLink program to another location besides your computer.

I hope this works for you.

Zach

I am not affiliated with Castle Creation in anyway, this was not their idea. I am just a consumer trying to help other RC'ers.

******When I installed my CastleLink Program from the CD, I DID NOT update the software. I have not tried to update the software either. I will post an update when I update the software and whether or not the program still works.********

When you install the Castle Link software in Vista you need to right click the install package and from the context menu that pop's up click run as administrator.
This works with Windows 7 as well.

Note that the OS must be 32bit. I have not seen any 64bit Castle drivers yet.

The Castle Link works fine with 64 bit Vista and Windows 7. The port on a Mamba Max will not work but if the Max is updated to the latest firmware version on a 32 bit machine it will then connect to 32 and 64 bit systems with the Castle Link.

The support site for the castle link still says that it requires a 32bit OS to work. How did you bypass the signing requirements for the castle link driver in Windows 7?

We tried it, it works with Windows 7.
