I was considering making a touring car with a electronic layout based off the Durango DEX410 layout to take to Snowbirds this year. There is a picture of how I'm thinking about laying it out below.I was wondering what are your guys' opinions and thoughts of this layout? Do you guys think this layout would perform well on a touring car? I'm afraid it might have a bit to much wieght on the front and not enough on the rear..but I wanted to get your guy's opinion before I went ahead with the project.
Thanks,
Ethan

only one way to find out if it works or not. built it and test it!
having the battery all the way in the back seems like it would put a lot of weight on the rear. then again, motors aint exactly light. hmmm.... might make a good rally car set up. if it doesn't work out on pavement try it out on dirt you could be on to something

Interesting. It does look like the rear might be a little heavy. Not the case if you switch to a LiPo. Will the rear drive shaft clear the batteries you have in there now or will you need spacers under the center diff?

I do plan on switching to lipo saddle packs. So that should help balance the chassis. In order for the batteries to fit under the center diff and still be efficent I will have to tilt the front and rear diffs up slightly by making new bulkheads to replace the diff cases and I will be tilting the center diff on the motor to raise the center driveshafts.

I love seeing people taking the time to think outside of the box do some custom building. I remember back in the day most of what we raced had a few custom built parts on it.

Hey, EDS?

What happen to the Traxxas 1/8 Buggy build?

BTW, nice set-up

Racer Rob:
thanks. I like seeing custom cars too. For me its the funnest part of the hobby is to make my own cars or parts. I really wish more people did these kind of projects instead of just buying everything strait from the hobby shop

Its still in storage. Hopefully I will be able to get it from storage in about 3 weeks. By then get a job to help pay for these projects. Don't worry I haven't abandoned that project just don't have access to it at the moment.

Thanks.

Very nice!! Having the weight towards the front is not a bad thing at all, my old TA03F has the motor in front of the front wheels and it handles fantastic, probably one of the best in my fleet with some tweaking.
