Has anyone tried to build/modify one? I'm thinking of doing a build but don't know what sled to start with. I have one of the New Bright MXZ RC's but its very tipsy at low speed. I doubt it will do any better at high speeds and I don't want to dump the money into it for nothing. So I need a good stable sled to start with. Anybodys kids have Wally World RC Snowmobiles? If so what are they and how do they run? I just want to put a good bushed motor in it to boost performance and longer runtimes. No brushless or anything like that unless the brushed setup works really well and I think it can handle a brushless setup. Any help is appreciated.

Sweet. Tonight when I got home I hit the web pretty hard and found a ton of stuff. I saw a guy on youtube put a TRX.15 in the same sled I have and it works great. So I think I'm going to give it a shot with my MXZ. If anyone has any experiences, tips or anything along those lines feel free to post.

Just look for an electric. The idea is nice, but running a nitro motor around snow is asking for trouble... Hot block... Cold Snow..... They look fun, being from Colorado it would be nice to have some winter nitro racing, but a few that I saw had $550 OS Speed. Too much to risk for snow bashing.

Yeah I've decided against the nitro idea. For now anyways. I think it would be alot more work than an electric version. I'm going to go with a Traxxas XL-5 esc, Titan 12T, and Traxxas servo. All are waterproof so they'll be snow safe. Hopefully I can get this done before snow flies.

What in the world are you talking about? Hot block, cold snow? Last I checked, 1:1 snowmobiles have gas engines. The only trouble you may have is getting the motor to maintain good operating temp - you may find that you'll need to insulate the head with foil to get it in to operating range.
Frankly, I think you'd be more than happy with the Traxxas 3.3 - tons of power for the money (or even double the money), and parts are plentiful and relatively inexpensive should something go wrong.
Going electric, running brushless/LiPo would be the only way to go at this point - and neither like getting wet - just be sure to take the proper precautions and you should be OK.
