Hello, I've been reading up on all the new SC racing in the RC world and seem to be confused on what race is what, and who is who in the 1:1 Short course world.
I saw a post that Traxxas Wins the TORC on Oct 24th
http://www.torcseries.com/
and now AE is posting they win the LOORS in AZ...

Are these guys racing each other? Are they starting their own series and the field is split? I don't know what’s happening, Comcast doesn’t air any of them. What happened to CORR? Their website is gone. I thought they started the whole thing?
Anybody on the inside for 411 on this industry?

traxxas sponsors the TORC series. AE sponsors the LOORS series. they are 2 different series unaffiliated with each other. its two originations offering the same thing (coke or pepsi sytle). lot of drivers do compete in both series. each RC company saying they win in whatever series is just a marketing gimmick. how do you win when there's no competition?
and CORR went bankrupt before the end of the 08 season.

The whole short course thing was started years ago and was originally called the S.O.D.A series. Then turned into CORR then W.S.O.R.R (World Series Of Off Road Racing)Then WSORR was bought out by Ricky Johnson And turned intot the TORC serise. Meanwhile the LOORS series was started. Unfourtunatly There is not that much mix of TORC and WSORR drivers, mainly because TRAXXAS sponsors TORC and will not allow drivers Sponsored by Associated to race in the TORC series unless they remove all sponsorship decals. I think that is The TORC series biggest mistake why not bring in more competition! Where there is more competition there is more fans! And where there are more fans there is more money!!!!
EDIT: Either way I think both series are bringing so much more the the world of Short Course Off Road racing. And I truly believe that it is hugely because of both TRAXXAS and ASSOCIATED sponsoring their respective series.

i can't be the only one here who thinks that's messed up? that's like GM sponsoring a NASCAR race and not letting ford's compete. somebody needs to pull there head out of there butt

the RC tie in has had no effect. it just seems bigger to us because of how close we are with it now. nothing would be different if we RC'ers had never showed up. just different names in different places that's all. nobody's money is any greener than anybody else's

I dis agree! I think if it were not for the sponsorship there would not be as many new fans as there are. I mean they should do anything to bring in more money and people. Sure there would be fans and money but not as much. I guess I just feel both series are getting better exposure because of the sponsorship!

They REALLY won't let them compete with AE decals? They can't be that worried can they? LOL Oh well...
I remember the Marlboro Indy Cars having to remove their decals to run in the Indy 500 a few years back because the IRL didn't believe in advertising for tobacco companies. That was annoying.
Traxxas... What the heck? Seriously...

Thanks so much for the update guys, I knew there was something fishy!
These guys don't know how to play together and they make toys!
I thought it was weird to see them in their own series, I get it now. Another corp decision from both sides... Can't really blame them... If Ford started the Fast Ford 500, and Ferrari wanted to smear them into the ground in their own event, ford would make them run without any sponsor logos...
Not to down play either one, but it seems a little like false marketing for some OOO's and AAAhhh's... Start a series and only let people race that are affiliated with your sponsors...
I'm going to guess it's a mutual agreement. Both companies know if they start racing each other 1:1 they will start to eat up profit from R/C sales trying to stay on top of each other...
Traxxas has their own marketing style that’s for sure. Both companies don't want their market $ to compete with the other guys marketing $ in a race... It's like one big commercial that's called a race... Kinda like a sport called WWF Wrestling....

It wasnt Indy, it was federal law. Joe Camel, Marlboro Man, Liquor... Removed from all sporting events...
I didn't mean to get anyone upset, I just saw something weird and called shenanigans! :D
I take back what I said about Traxxas and 1:8 Buggy & Truggy, You guys have something to learn about sportsmanship before you come play with the big boys! :p
NEWS FLASH, HPI starts the HPIORS and wins the first race in the Blitz.com SC.. What an accomplishment for the team. It was the same pit crew for all the drivers... all 4 of them... :D :D :D

pennzoil on this one, castrol on that one, and quaker state on the next one. checker/schucks/kragen on this one, auto zone on that one. if the big boys can do this, why can't RC company's?
you want to put your name on a truck with top quality equipment with a top quality driver with a top quality crew and then have them battle it out against the competition for superiority, and win. because then you can turn around and say your product is better than the competition. the byproduct of that is better racing, and bragging rights you can use in your advertising to promote and sell your product. that's how its supposed to work. why can we not make it work that way?

Yeah, I agree 100%. That's what sponsoring is all about. So we can see which products come out on top... The major problem here is neither company have anything to do with designing or building the 1:1 SC trucks. So just because they "win" doesn’t mean the R/C will be better...
The more info that comes out, the more it feels like WWF. If they select the racers that can enter, they are likely setting up the winners. It's kind of like the 1:10 MT class, The only trucks racing were Revo but Holy Cow Traxxas wins again....
