Brand new to the hobby and recently purchased and built an Associated B4 1/10 scale buggy team car. I purchased the Novak Havoc spec with the 17.5 ss pro motor. It seems as if the car is underpowered compared to alot of the other cars running the 17.5 motors. Is this esc just good for sport? I am using a 27 tooth pinion, but would hate to loose more torque by upping this. I am using a venom 4200 nimh battery as well. Perhaps I am under powered because of my battery selection? Just want to be competative. What is a good Stock Brushless set up? What is a good Super stock set up. Not concerened with the cost of a new system if this is my best option. This car is only used for track. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are two things that may help you get more out of the motor. 1. Lipo will make a big difference when compared to generic Venom cells. Even a good matched NiMH pack will help but in my opinion, NiMH isn't worth messing around with anymore. 2. Your ESC doesn't have adjustable timing or boost. This feature can make a big difference. The Tekin RS, RS-Pro, and the Mamba Max Pro are sensored ESC's that do have adjustable timing. With brushless motors, the ESC is more important than the motor design.

Thank you for your advise, I will look into Tekin products today. I sent Novak some questions and never heard back from them, so it looks like it will be an easy decision. Thank you again.

Kufman's right, though Novak IS working on an ESC with features similar to the RS & RS Pro(but it's only just recently been announced, so no idea how long it'd take for it to hit the shelves). Meanwhile, the RS is an EXCELLENT choice, I picked up a couple of them for my touring cars(from Novak GTB's, & I've been a LONG time Novak guy), & I have to say, I'm VERY impressed with how they run & how easy they are to adjust(particularly using the Hotwire interface & a PC). I don't think you'll be disappointed....
