Just got a look at the new Nationwide cars. They look great. What do you guys think? I would love to see cars like this in the Cup series.

The nose is an improvement for sure over the Nextel COT, which is just hideous.

Too bad Chevy is not running the camaro. At least thats what I last read. I wish they would. Heh but if the BIG 3 ran those nice muscle cars, what would Toyota run? :)

A Prius? They may not win the race, but the driver could gloat that he finished with 3/4 of a tank left, and has a carbon footprint 1/100th the size of the big three's. (As he bends down to take a whiff, of course)
They've always got Lexus to draw inspiration from...

I will paste what I posted on whowon.com board
the only thing that looks like the real car is the nose-- the rest is all NASCAR COOKIE CUTTER. from the side view they ALL look the same.
Hmm maybe why it is so hard to see very many side view shots in the press!!!! still a joke!
But to be honest I was not looking to actually see the cars like the real ones. WHY you ask. Same reason they have the COT in cup. NASCAR DOES NOT WANT ANY MANUFACTURE TO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE!!! they got tired of all the pi$$in and moaning from they got this and that over the years so they took care of that issue. EVERYONE runs the same stuff!! slap a decal on front and shut up and go racing. NASCAR and production cars have absolutely NOTHING in common any more. have not for years. This whole win on sunday sell on monday thing is dead unless you are an idiot.
NASCAR is SPEC racing -- and even the technology is outdated- carbs- pushrod engines etc you name it. NOTHING from NASCAR goes into production cars. F1 tech HAS made it into production cars though. Fuel Inj-- Antilock- OHV motors etc list goes on.

Thats one of the things that makes it cool though, it comes down to the driver and car set-up. Everyone is running the same equipment, the playing field is level.

oh I don`t disagree!! It is just NASCAR seems to think some people are stupid or something. They create a spec class just for the reasons you state and then try and pass off their racing like its old days by adding bodies that are supposed to look simular to actual production cars!!
IMO it`s time to let the type of car thing die and just go racing. It`s real funny that the chassis are all hand made-- the motors come from thee respctive manufacturers( although of nothing in production cars) but they all still use a FORD based rear end. funny stuff!

NASCAR should have a class like the touring cars all over the world, modified production cars. I can honestly say I would love to watch FWD Malibus Taurus's and Camry's go door handle to door handle with RWD Crown vics and Chargers on the high banks. It might sound funny but they are actually related to the cars we own. We accept distorted racecar bodies when the performance is other worldly (F1, trophy trucks, funny cars). The rules in NASCAR prevent 220mph passes so why have 220mph looks? They are also designed with safety in mind so the performance is severely regulated. Why can't the performance be regulated by the actual limitations of the cars themselves? GM may have been able to keep Olds and Pontiac open if their cars were racing every sunday in NASCAR. As long as somebody loses there will be complaints about other cars so to heck with the whiners and give us real cars racing!
If anyone has doubts about the fun and competitiveness of FWD cars watch BTCC on speed next saturday FWD and RWD, gas and diesel mixing it up!
PS. NASCAR's have reminded me of bad lexan bodies for a long time now.
BTCC ftw. Old school Minis and Mustangs battling it out. Also Volvo station wagons. And, of course, Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags.

Maybe a Ferd rear axle housing but it's all Chevy 2wd pickup suspension and the diff/locker is a GM too.

The last time I checked GM didn't make a Ford 9 inch center section (diff). That would be like going to the Ford dealership to buy upgraded parts for your LT1 Chevy V8. Also Chevy doesn't make a locker, they buy them from Auburn and other manufacturers. NASCAR uses Detroit lockers in the FORD rearend.

I'd like to paint a Go Daddy Chevrolet design on a car but I don't think I can model the amount of damage Danica put on it while she was playing Nascar driver for the day.

Did you watch that race?? As far as I can remember, the wreck she got involved in was NOT of her own doing. She may getting a lot of hype, but she is going at the right way and I, for one, hope she shows all you doubters what she can really do.

I guess I was wrong. It wasn't her fault yesterday either. I take it back. She's the best woman driver in Nascar.
