I have a Tekin electronic speed control called the rebel and when i got a new battery it now always gets really hot, around 140 degrees F. is this normal? BTW im using a Trinity 7.2v 3600 mAh pack. please help

If your old battery was REALLY old and tired, your new battery is likely allowing the motor to draw a lot more current. I bet the car accelerates quite a bit better than it used to?
I would suggest, after you check for binding and improper gear mesh, to buy a pinion with 2-3 teeth less than the one you have now. That will make everything run cooler and possibly be enough to solve your problem.

yea i had a 2000 mAh battery and it was about a 3 year old battery. it only lasted 5min for my truck. The new battery got my truck to about 25mph, but my speed controller is currently being repaired because I might of melted the inside of it. :(
