Hi All. Can someone please shed some light on this isssue? I have a speed passion esc (V1.1) and 17.5t motor which I am very happy with. The manual claims it will cut of when the motor OR the esc gets hotter than 95 deg C. I've checked the sensor wires to the motor and there's only 6, two for each coil. My question is how does the esc measure the temperature of the motor (and the esc for that matter) does it work on change of resistance? I see the new manual does not state the motor temperature cut off. could this be a translation fault or will it really cut out when the motor gets too hot? My second question is, is 95degC O.K?...... does anyone know how this works???

I'm not familiar enough with the SpeedPassion ESC's to say on the temp cutoff question, but on motor temps in general, a SpeedPassion motor may be able to withstand those temps(around 203 as you mentioned), but I wouldn't reccomend doing it repeatedly. Novak has been saying of their motors that they shouldn't be allowed to reach over 160 degrees F, & while others might not die from higher temps, I'd say if you're getting hotter than that(160) then your motor may not be performing up to its potential, because it seems the sweet spot for gearing with most sensored brushless motors seems to happen when the motor is reaching the 140-150 F range(most of the time, that is).....

Pin #1- ground potential
Pin #2- phase C
Pin #3- phase B
Pin #4- phase A
Pin #5- temp control, 10 k Thermistor referenced to ground potential
Pin #6- + 5.0 volts =/- 10%
